Excellent news
Patty thats great news that you can hang onto it a wee bit longer!! Yes I can relate to what Mark has said too....
My sister has recently(well before this last drama:rolleyes:) told me how 'well' I look in recent weeks and I dont have that 'drawn' look in my face....hopefully that will return asap!!! I had awful itching when I got the trial but a little when I had the actual implant. I think it was my body getting used to the stimulation and the 'foreign body' in my body, so to speak!! I had to wait 4 months:eek:after my trial for my permanent implant what with my Dr going on holiday etc, plus like Rae he too wanted to make sure that the wound had healed up:confused:first before he reopened it:rolleyes: but it was well worth the wait I can tell you...... Hope you find out soon when your implant will be Best of luck Jackie:hug: |
6 Weeks or so
The wait is common; however, in my case an infection had set in around the leads entering my back, SO..... we had to wait for the healing of infection before going in there again.
Stay Clean, and Dry.... Your situation sounds quite good actually, being allowed to keep it over the weekend. Yep, Mark56:grouphug: |
On the schedule!
It seems like I am on the surgery schedule for march 1 for the perm. scs! They pulled it yesterday and the pain is so bad...not sure if it's worse or if I'm just getting used to it again. The tape they used left me with a huge rash and it was miserably itchy. I am sensitive to the adhesive. So much at a time...we'll be moving back home around then which will make it easier to get the kids to school. Ihave a vacation planned for early June and want to be able to enjoy it.

Thats great to hear you have a date....you will find it odd now that your trial is over and yes I did have the pain come back full force. But its not long to March 1st so you have something great to look forward to......

Oh the return to the pain in the interim
Dear Stressed-
Yep, the return to the pain for me once the wires were pulled was immediate. I had come to the office fully prepared with the pain meds, so once we left the office, POP, in the mouth with pain meds. Then, there was a bit of a wait for the date to schedule the permanent implant. All in good time...... all in good time.... and then it will be wondrous to have a permanent set. I feel blessed, Mark56:hug: |
Tomorrow
Well, tomorrow is the day. I'm nervous but cannot wait for the relief again. My arm is so bad the past few days. Seems like the RSD is traveling up my arm. I'm anxcious about recovery. I have 3 retrievers, pups but they like to jump. My 3 teens know they will need to help. Just want this to be succesful and give me a chance to get some relief.

Will be thinking of you tomorrow

I just hate RSD and what it is doing to so many people..... I trust that tomorrow's surgery will prove to be a success, as you've already had a taste of what the SCS can do for you. Be very easy on yourself......put those teens to the tasks at hand.....believe me, I 'KNOW' the 'selective hearing' they possess and sometimes have to be asked 2 or 3 times what to do! Anxious to hear an update! surgery went well! I'm feeling tired and a bit loopy from the pain meds! i'm afraid to move because i don't want anything to move. it is coverering good, even where the rsd seems to be spreading.

headaches
I am now on dday 3 after the cervical scs implant. It works great and the surgical site pains are getting better each day although it's still hard to get comfortable. My question though is I have been getting headaches and dizzy spells. I haven't taken any percocet this morning thinking it was from that but still got them. The headaches aren't extremely bad and don't really last long. Could this just be a recovery from surgery thing or is something wrong? I'm still very tired but I haven't been sleeping good.
