Hi Melly

:Wave-Hello: Yup, these devices bear potential to integrate well into our pain management portfolio. I did managed to fully withdraw from all pain management meds, but that is kinda rare; even so, hope springs eternal, and I pray for you, Sandy, Sinéad, and well goodness the whole of this board that all will be well...... better mention Jenna too, yup!

xoxoxo to all

I'm so sorry you've had to wait so long to get your surgery date for your permanent unit! I sure hope you'll get that call soon, so you can get on the road to a better quality of life.

Anyway, I just wanted to give you a hug  and to say that it's great to have you here. Isn't everyone here just fantastic!
It'll be exciting to hear how it goes for you once you get your long-awaited surgery!

An Advent Gift

Oh Melly, may you receive your gift in the plan as laid before you so THIS Christmas will have potential to be a time of thanksgiving!!! I know it has been a daily thanksgiving for me, a reason I started the blessings thread, urging all of us to count our blessings in life.

Hoping to celebrate with you soon with a few:Dancing-Chilli::Dancing-Chilli::Dancing-Chilli::Dancing-Chilli::Dancing-Chilli::Dancing-Chilli: and maybe a :yahoo::yahoo:

Hi Sinead!! I'm so sorry about the delay in replying!! its been so mental the last few months. I was due to go for my SCS trial on the 18th of Nov and they rang 3 days before to tell me it had been changed to a heat lesion injection for insurance purposes and they were puttin off the SCS until jan. so Jan came and they gave me the 6th of Jan as my date and 2 days before they rang and cancelled as the doctor is unavailable until the beginning of feb. So beginning of feb starts tomorrow! they have given me the 22nd of feb not sure if thats definite yet or not but i'm hopin so!
feel like i'm slowly goin mad!!!!

Hi guys aorry about the huge delay in replying to all ur lovely msgs! i'm still waitin to get my SCS! My original date of Nov 18th was changed from a SCS to a heat lesion injection 'for insurance purposes' (not a happy emily as i would have been as far on stayin at home that day and eating my weight in smarties for all the benefit i got from the procedure!! - Sorry guys the waiting and choppin n changing has my head annoyed so apologies if i seem like a narky cow! :(
So they then gave me the 6th of jan as my date. on the 4th of jan the hospital rang to say dr o'keefe would be unavailable until the 1st week of feb  i was so so so upset!!!
tomorrow is the 1st of feb so i rang today wondering about a date as i havent heard from them since the 1st week of jan. The date i've now got is the 22nd of feb. Which is fine i'm happy to have a date. however the secretary was quiet short with me when i questioned why it so late in the month when i was told the 1st week of feb! i was told that in no uncertain terms had i any right to complain as they are cancelling the february appointment sto fit in the jan appointments!!!
ok sorry i'm just ranting on now i'm just so so upset!

Hi Emily and PatriciaB, so nice to see more Irish people on this forum :)

I am based in Dublin and Ive had such a good Consultant since my back problem raised its ugly head 6 and a half years ago:rolleyes:....I have failed Back Syndrome, basically Ive had trouble from the outset with a Discetomy first followed by 2 Spinal Fusion between L4/L5 and L5/S1 , these were supposed to make me feel better! I wish, if anything it was worse and in the end I had to have the metal removed as it was causing me more pain also. So I am left with neuropathic pain down both legs, which as a matter of fact originally was in my right side but has now made my left side worse!!! and its moreso the left side that I have been addressing, except the pain radiates down my right leg too:confused: Eventually my Spinal Consultant suggested Pain Management. At this stage I was feeling like a horse put out to pasture.....

But after 2 years and a lot procedures inbetween I ended up with the SCS. It is very good for the pain in my legs but cant say the same for my lower back! But I will say , I have it a year since August, I definitely feel more 'relaxed' especially when Im lying down. I cant sit for too long and thats something that the SCS doesnt address. But it has been remarked that I dont have that 'drawn' look as much as I used to. I havent gone off all meds as I just cant function properly if I do as the pain is still there. The SCS does 'mask' the pain I have but I do feel it there all the time, but its more 'bearable' I suppose!!......

I hope you both have the trial and that you will both benefit from it.....

Good luck with your visit Emily with your Specialist and I do hope that you will get all the video's and literature that goes with the SCS.

Mine incidently is St Judes Eon Ans Stimulator. They are based in the UK, well thats where the Reps come from but the actual company originates in Texas.

If you have any questions please dont hesitate to ask.......

Btw where are you both from, I will understand if you dont want to say.....

Take care

Jackie :)

Hi emily!

Thank you for the update! I'm sorry they gave you the runaround. I don't know why, but this seems to be pretty common and it becomes quite frustrating.

We'll be anxiously awaiting your date to get nearer!

Please keep us posted!

Caring,
Rae

Oh Emily........ My My My.....

And is it not GRAND the USA is ramming down our throats a conversion to follow the path your country has already blazed for us? Frankly, I am for FIRING the half wits who pretend to govern us... all, every party, so we may have freash minds. But then, we embrace things like Change You Can Believe In..... I know exactly who penned that beauty [federico] and the funny thing is we are silly enough to mimic Oliver in the musical "please sir, may I have more?" It is so amazing how Dickens taught us so much about Greed, about Government incursions into private life, and we peat and repeat the mistakes over and over. I digress....and rant.

So, now you are to Feb 22. Were I you I would be snarky, and perhaps a good deal more than that! May you be blessed with the means to tolerate the days until you may appear and have your needs MET!!

That, my friend, is the best I can pray for you right now,
Mark56:hug:
