Default So happy for you!

Hi Yellow! So happy that you made it through the surgery, and are feeling relief again. It probably was a good thing you stayed in the hospital for the night - just to make sure. I can't wait to get home either - and into my own bed. Do get some rest, and keep us informed

Hi Yellow

So glad to hear the good news that you are buzzing away and feeling good results.
Sounds like the Dr.made a good decision keeping you in the hospital overnight with the fever and nasea.
My first week at home was very painful and difficult to get up and down. But come week two I felt like a new person.
Give yourself all the rest you can get. Slowly adding new activities. I still find sitting for long periods difficult though.
My Bost Sci reps have been so helpful. Telling me to call at any hour with concerns and questions. Nice to know there is some one to be there. At one point the stim was too strong on on side and going down my leg. One call and the rep guided me through adjustments over the phone two minutes later I felt great.

Remember BLAST

Sandy

Thumbs up

Hi Yellow

It's great to hear all went well for you, it felt like I was in the OR with you going through my own surgery again.*
Take it easy over the next few days, in fact it's no harm to keep you overnight, in Ireland they keep you in for a couple of days. I also hope you managed to get someone to do your Sunday School for a a week or two or give the little ones some time off!
I'd love to get home myself, hopefully tomorrow for a few hours and then back in again.

All the best Yellow

Smile Hi Sandy-K

Hi Sandy K,

Thanks for your wishes, it looks like I'm in until the middle of next week anyway, I have to see a neurosurgeon to get these disc prolapses sorted first and then I might even need more surgery.

I'm keeping the thread I started on my SCS has to come out,

Thanks again

Sinéad

Last night, my first night at home, was not easy. I got very little sleep, had trouble sleeping on only one side, was in a lot of pain, and got up several times to throw up. I eventually made my way downstairs onto the couch and got a little more sleep down there.

Today the vomiting has continued all day, so I haven't been able to keep anything down, including medicine, and it's been violent and miserable. I'm a little concerned I'm going to pop a stitch one of these times. My stomach is also really painful and there's a strong feeling of pressure in it. Adding this to my back pain, there is no way to get comfortable.

I've been trying to distract myself today by watching television as well as taking little naps when I can. I feel like my back is at least hurting a little less today which is good. And my knee pain has been low when I've had the SCS on, but I've had to turn it off a few times for periods because I can feel the stim in my stomach too, which upsets it.

All in all with how I feel I sadly had to admit to myself that there's no way I can teach Sunday School tomorrow, so the person who runs everything is going to take care of things for me.

I've been through some bumps but recovery can be a bumpy road and I'm still in the beginning stages, so I'm just trying to get through these first few days as best as I can.

Sinead, I'm so sorry to hear all that you're going through. I can only hope that when this is over for you you will be feeling much better.

Shocked

Oh NO Yellow! My heart completely sank reading this!
Your doctor needs to know you are in this condition. Maybe he can prescribe pain meds via suppositories. You need your meds. You can't go on like this, not to mention the risk of dehydration.
This warrants a call! If your doc isn't available, the on-call one should help you...before you end up in ER.

I'm so very sorry about this.....
You're right, this will eventually pass, but for the here and now, you need attention asap.

Please hang in there...
Praying,
Rae

Heart Too much too soon?

Oh, dear Yellow, You are very much on my heart at this time. Sunday School tomorrow, a bit too much too soon perhaps.... I was sent home the day of my surgery, as you know, and I found that the bed I knew in home was no better than the bed I knew so well in hospital. It takes time Yellow. I had severe pain after coming home from hospital and it was teh pain I had known as severe back surgery pain from earler experiences.

It will pass, but, as Rae writes, you do need to be in touch with doc, and I am sure you were sent home with a packet of information on how to get doc's attention if things went out of hand. That phone number is something you need to use. Give doc a heads up, and let it be known your pain is out of control.

My stim was not allowed to be put into use until two weeks after I had the surgery for the very reason of allowing surgical pain to abate so stim use could be discerned from the surgical pain. Even so, my friend, know I am praying for you...... praying.

Heart Hi Yellow

Hi Yellow,

I'm very sorry to hear about this, the pain and discomfort is normal after surgery but this vomiting is not okay. We don't want you to get de-hydrated. If you were still in hospital, the staff would be ringing your Dr and I think you should give him a call before you end up in the ER.

Take care and I hope you feel better soon

I'm so sorry yellow! Surely they can give you something to help with the nausea! I do hope that you're telling them about this!
