I'm so sorry you've had to wait so long......almost doesn't seem 'right'....

Even tho you've called the office, At this point I'd probably start phoning at least once a week (be a pest! ) and this might prompt them to get their rears in gear! Sounds like they need 'reminding' that you are sitting here in pain as the days tick slowly by.

I hope you can get some answers SOON

Rae

Hmm .. I'm interested in this brace thing. I'm terrible for not listening to instructions and ignoring rules ... at least this would make me stand up straight.

I noticed on the x ray on Thursday, that my spine now curves because I favour my right hand side ... perhaps a brace will help right this? Any advice?

Sorry to hijack the thread xx

Default Yup

A brace of physical therapy prescriptions for say 40 sessions, and I kid you not. I have had over a 150 sessions. They do help. The idea is strengthen the body to do what it is supposed to do rather than yield to the temptation to the quick fix of a brace. That has been the wisdom of my docs, walk, ride bike, be in therapy pool, strengthen, chiro, massage, strengthen more, follow by more strengthening to gain bodily control over the functions which are to hold the spine in its right course. Maybe consider your seating posture as well, if favoring a side is causing leaning and such.

This is not hijacking, just real deal whether brace or not, yes?

Default PT is a must!

I cannot say enough good things about physical therapy! It's been 15 years now since I was injured, and I can't tell you how many times I've been to PT - countless. I've been in a wheelchair more or less for 10 years now, and up until about 2 years ago PT has kept my core body strong. These past 2 years I didn't go to PT and I have lost SO much muscle strength, flexibility. When in a wheelchair the tendency is to just curl up into yourself - I don't think I would be anywhere this bad if my doctors had just suggested going to PT. It's going to be tough recovering from the SCS surgery, mostly because so many muscles have shortened. My motto: Go to PT and ssstttrrreeetttccchhhh!
