.. Ooh, sounds like a film ... Three words!
![]() Seriously .. Since my discectomy in 2007 my left big toe has been numb. As they years have gone by this has now spread to the whole foot and is heading up past my ankle. My foot seems to have no power and I keep scraping it on the floor and indeed, tripping up at times. I asked my doctor about it when i last went to see her but she said to mention it to the surgeon who just said it is nerve damage and won't get better. Ok, it won't get better, but I'm a bit concerned it seems to be getting worse, not better. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Obviously I use two crutches when walking out .. But in the house I am ok pottering about, but with my left foot being floppy, I keep tripping. Is there anything I can do to keep my foot at least in one position?? |

Floppy foot, numbness.... yeah, I have total numbness from knees down... I use a cane..... Burning persists above the knees but for the fact of the Boston Sci SCS with which I help manage such pain also with my cushion. Floppy foot? A physical therapist can prescribe for you an appliance which is a brace to hold the foot fixed so as to avoid the tripping phenomenon. I trip... I fall down stairs.... I did not go for the appliance. I have a cane and a wheelchair for LONG stints in malls, airports, museums and the like. I am much better about holding onto stair rails now.
I SO hope and pray you are able to fix the ultimate issues with the aid of your docs.... they just need to help you manage this PAIN!!!! No question about it!!! Prayin, Mark56 ![]() |

First thing came to mind was an ankle-brace.
The numbness creeping upwards sounds a bit alarming. Numbness usually means nerve-endings dying off. I hope the doctor will better address this and see if there is a way to keep it from spreading. ![]() |

It's always a thrill to see Tara posting!
Let us know what the Dr prescribes for the nerve pain. I'm hoping it's something other than Lyrica/Nerontin. I'm wishing that there might be something better that targets nerve pain. It's great to see you again dear one ![]() Rae ![]() |
