Default Laminectomy for SCS scheduled for May 15

Sitting here thinking about tomorrow, as you can imagine I'm experiencing all kinds of emotions, from scared to death to excited that relief from the pain is in sight. I have had 15 abdominal surges so my surgeon said this will be a walk in the park. I would greatly appreciate any advice and prayer.

Smile Hello!

And WELCOME to the crew! You certainly came to the right place for support and prayer!
We all know exactly how you are feeling right now. All those nerves and emotions mixed up into one big "Oh My What IF"!

Did you do the trial? If so, and it was successful, then there goes half of your 'what ifs'. You'll pretty much know what is going on. Good communication is probably the most important thing about the surgery. You want the stimulation exactly where it needs to be. The laminectomy method has proved to be the most successful when it comes to preventing lead migration. I'm glad you're getting it done this way.

And of course it is paramount that you follow the post op restrictions to a tee. Since you've had so many prior surgeries, then heck, you probably know more than we do .
I found it very wise to go around the house and put essential things up on counters and easy to reach. Having a reacher/grabber gadget is an all-time favorite around here. I still use mine even tho I'm almost 3 yrs post op. It's convenient for picking up my teen's stinky socks and what have you....

It's really great to have you here! You will certainly get lots of feedback. We're a fun caring bunch and there is NO lack of prayer around here! We're behind you all the way
Please let us know how this goes for you!
We'll be anxiously waiting

Rae

Heart Hello Maggie, so Happy You Came to the Forum!!

Welcome Maggie!!

Now that you have found us, we are here for all sorts of help. I am sorry your laminectomy is tomorrow. Given my previous explanation to you courtesy, I might add, by way of Gerry [Ger] who pointed me in your direction, you have a good leg up on the preparations and such for tomorrow. You will certainly be prescribed pain meds for post surgical pain in addition to the pain management meds you have been likely taking.

TAKE THE SURGICAL PAIN MEDS. You know the drill from the 15 abdominals, such meds are temporary use meds for overcoming the pain of surgery which will be on top of your existing pain. Since you have had to have had the trial which must have proven successful in order to gain the surgery implanting a permanent device tomorrow, you know already the relief toward which you may look in anticipation for a couple of weeks as your body heals from the surgery. This surgical part will pass. The best is hopefully yet to come.

I have regained my professional life by reason of having had the surgery, and I hope you will receive similar results.
Many prayers are preceding you into the OR tomorrow!
May all be well,
Prayin,
Mark56zzzz

Thumbs up Good luck tomorrow

I wish you the very best of luck with your implant tomorrow. you will benefit immensely from your stim. But take it handy for the first few weeks and give yourself time to recover. When you can come back here and tell us all how you got on

Good luck and take care

Jackie

I have just joined and roaming the site.
Wish you well and suggest trying to control your breathing.
This will provide some distraction

I really hope everything went well with your surgery today and that you are resting now while buzzing away! It would be great if you could come and let us know how things went when you are feeling better!
