Im new here and I was just wondering how most people felt at this time of their SCS implant recovery. I'm upright and mobile but my incisions are taking their sweet time to heal and i just feel very sluggish. I have been back at work (office Job) but when I get home I'm done. I had quite a time with recovery and at 2 1/2 weeks I was like you...I was not able to really recover until I quit working 5 months post op. i was a deli clerk lifting meats all day.

I cannot harp enough about rest and being ever so careful with your body...

Rock! Back to work within less than two and a half weeks? I am surprised you were released to do that. Only with rest at about this time frame post op was I beginning to work off the rough edges of "ouch" that hurts.....

You have gotta have a far more robust constitution than I. Hope you are able to allow yourself some rest. Real rest.

Hi Rockabella! I had two SCS's implanted at the same time (cervical and thoracic) and only took off from work for 1 1/2 weeks. Yeah, I went back to work too soon! I think the pain you are experiencing at this point is pretty normal. Just keep an eye on things to make sure there is nothing else going on with them...like infection. Thankfully, I did not have that problem! It will take some time to get your full strength back, just take it easy while you are still healing. Make sure you get plenty of rest outside of work...and do not overdo it while at the office!

i'm in bed on my left side
if i have anything to say about
returning back to work it is this
no one but i mean no one
will ever again make me think
it is in my head
for in the end with
tears as ssd barely makes it
i was so looking forward to work
i loved my job
my life as i knew it prior
to this problem
is gone
my life changed forever

Thanks Everyone! Yeah Im ok as far as infection just wounds are not closing very quickly I had my implant on 02/22/12 and my back is closed but my hip is not done yet. I am planning on quitting my job 04/05 I am moving out of state so I will be a sofa rider for a bit. I really appreciate everyone's different views because I know were all not the same. I was really starting to feel like a mega wimp and quit smiling for a bit. My son looks at me like "mom" are we going to do anything today, or we watching movies AGAIN!! And I know my other half is tired of helping me get dressed shower and all the stuff that happens in the evening when Im wiped out. OH what type of footwear are yo all wearing, I cant bend to get tennys on so been flats n flip flops and my feet hurt.

Those of us on PN often have shoe issues.

If you want to wear lace up shoes, there are curly laces that once you put thru the holes, stretch.

I have white ones I found at Famous Footwear.
I lace them every other hole, because of my high instep, and then I can just slip my foot into an "already laced shoe".
These laces are targeting kids, but we, adults can use them too.

I also have various pickers, reachers to get to areas where I cannot bend. Some large BBQ tongs work for some things, and
Home Depot has this nice strong picker:

Amazon has a health section with many physical aids listed.
There may be a picker there for you too, to get to things dropped or whatever. I use the strong pickers at Home Depot for my gardening tasks, because I have problems bending over now.

My cats are very attached to my various pickers. They know I will play with them when I get my picker out! LOL

If you get tired of using a picker from one of those local stores...... there are a couple of guyz on TV who have a show called Pickin, and maybe they would pick for you if your son and hubby are too worn thin......

Glad u are feeling better. I am a few days behind you, and like you still get tired and I am shocked you are back to work already. I have had good luck with my permanent implant so far. The only thing is my remote needs to be a couple inches from the generator to work. I still need to work an apppointment with my "technician" so I will ask her about it.
