Jen /
MMark,

Who would have thought taking a shower/hair washing would be such a wonderful experience....Both of you are doing great. Keep up the positive thinking.

Default SCS Paddle Lead

Glad you are doing well. Not sure where to Post this but wanted to ask a question. I have RSD in the lower Back, entire right leg and left foot. After having monthly spinal blocks for over a year I had a St. Jude SCS put in last month. After two weeks started having many issues. Following test the doctor found that my Leads had moved and were causing me more issues. He stated my epidural space has to much room and sent me to a neurosurgeon to schedule the Leads to be removed and for Paddle Leads to be put in. I have multiple orthopedic surgical needs (right foot & knee and left knee) that all the doctors say cannot be repaired due to the RSD. I've been bound to a wheelchair for over a year and a half. I have high hopes of the Paddle Leads masking some of my pain. I do not like taking medications and requested my doctor to take me off of morphine, Methadone and dilaudid. I still have to take the Lyrica and fentanyl. Has anyone recently had Paddle Leads put in and how are you doing with them? Thanks.

Happy to have you here ...lots of info in the threads so read away until you get some feedback here.

What might help is if you start your own thread...I am fairly sure that is at the top left of this section.

I am so sorry for your chronic pain...I only know of RSD from reading here...it does sound so painful with little explanation. Goodness too...that is quite the combination of meds...keep me updated on your management of that---I am interested in cutting back on my meds too.

I have read much of the leads migrating...I have the Medtronic adaptive stim with a paddle at T7.

We have all been quiet lately...I am a bit concerned about that....I am sure advice will be on the way tho ...and great advice from caring people so hang with us for a bit.

At the top of the boards is a place for introduction....I would suggest doing that...I didn't and so regret not having a "snapshot" of my attitude at the time I joined....it also is a great place to let us know about you other than your pain.

all my best
Johanna

Smile Hello mmgifts!

Welcome!

I'm sorry that you too battle the RSD monster. It's been 8 yrs for me. Also sorry to see that you have been having trouble with your unit. You've sure come to the right place for great support tho!
We have an 'RSD' forum here also which is full of caring people who know what it's all about.

Johanna is right! If you start a new thread of your own, then others will see it much better. If you exit out of this dialogue page you will see all the threads that are listed. In the upper left corner is a "New Thread" option. Just click on that, title your thread and there you have it!

Migrated leads are such a common subject (unfortunately). Makes me think 'why can't they just get it right the first time and secure the leads down better' ! There are a lot of people here with the paddle leads, so you'll have no problem getting input on that. But (as Johanna mentioned) our little forum seems to be quiet lately. We'll have to send out the 'search party' .
Meanwhile, as you wait for responses to your thread, you can take advantage of the 'search' feature. It's toward the top right of the screen. Just type in "paddle leads" and it'll bring up a bunch of threads and posts on this subject.

It's great to have you with us. Stick around so we can see how things go with the neurosurgeon and hopefully they'll have you up and running again soon.
Just holler if you have any Q's or need tips on getting around the forums.

Caring,
Rae

Default Hi mmgifts

I had to try to respond.
I have had paddle leads since July 2010
It is such a blessing
I use it 24/7
and though I never got feeling back in my lower legs
the relentless pain of low back and thighs
is thus controlled
so I had withdrawn from all pain meds as of Sept 2010
I have a story in the stickies about this
I'll pray all goes well with you
