Thanks Mark, for the prayers and hug. You have been in my prayers as well. Hope you are improving. Been a rough day today, here's hoping tomorrow will be better.

So it has been almost two weeks since surgery and it has not been pleasant. Evidently, I am allergic to the liquid adhesive they used. I have disolving stitches and they put this adhesive on and then steristrips. The reaction has been pretty bad but looks like I have turned the corner and they are beginning to actually heal. Went in to see dr yesterday to make sure there is no infection. He said it is definitly an allergic reaction. Friday they told me to remove the strips and put bacitracin on incisions. Could try hydrocortisone on the irritated areas around incisions...that broke me out worse. Dr said yesterday to try benadryl cream and keep using bacitracin...the benadryl cream broke me out even more. So frustrating!!!

Default good neews

Hi Nanc,
so happy you have good results from the removal although that itching of blisters from the adhesive...I know that feeling...

Aside from all that reaction you seem to have recovered quite well.

a couple of things I wanted to say...first ..I too react to adhesives and sometimes just break out in a blister rash next to a burn or cut....Neosporin or anything that would soften the skin just makes it worse...one day in a panic I put on calamine lotion and it dried it all ...hope it gives you some relief.

did you have paddles removed and if you did where were they located?

Hi HB, and thanks

My cervical leads were percutaneous and the thoracic leads were paddles. I do not remember the exact location of either.

Smile Hi Nanc

Praying here that your healing from the surgery will go well in all respects. I am sorry you had to have the scs removed. What a bummer.

Adhesive..... I, too, seem to react to liquid adhesive. During the prep for my recent cervical fusion, liquid adhesive was apparently used to help hold the breathing tube securely in my mouth. Afterward, I had this awful red rash surrounding my mouth for about two weeks. You would have thought I had dipped my face in liquid nitrogen or something. It did not hurt, it was just irritating, weeped a little, and was itchy. Then.... it went away. Whew!

Next time [oh, please God let there NOT be a next time] I will ask them to be aware adhesive makes for a yucky rash around my mouth......

Be well, and heal soon,

Thanks guys! Aside from only sleeping 1 1/2 hours last night, I am doing a little better today. Two of the four incisions are stilll bothering me quite a bit, but they have pretty much stopped oozing. I fear that RSD is spreading to the incision site on my front/side (near my ribcage), where the thoracic battery was. I started getting these bad sharp, burning pains in it.

Mark - I bet that was a pretty site, breaking out on your face like that from the adhesive...oh boy ! Glad it didn't hurt you and that it cleared up. My allergic reaction is pretty bad...it hurts quite a bit. There are some raw looking spots, but it appears to be drying up. The drs office gave me the name of the adhesive they used so I could add it to my allergy list. Let's hope there are no more surgeries that we will not have to worry about this again!! And thanks for the prayers

Dear Nanc against the spread of RSD.
May all ultimately be WELL.
