hello
I just finished a trial of nerve root stim for saphenous neuropathy after knee arthroscopy . I have been battling neuropathic pain for 3 years and have had lots of interventions. the stimulator seemed to help but I had very irritating positionality problems. I could get severe zaps with even minor changes in body position..you have to laugh after but it isn't funny at the time hopping around like a chicken looking fir the remote !! my question is whether this will settle down with time after implantation . It is at L3 level . Thanks for any advice. |

Are you sure you haven't dislodged a lead. I would get those jolts if I wasn't careful when my leads had not scarred in

Thanks for your reply. My trial is over and the lead is out...I am trying to decide whether to have the implant but the positionality is a potential showstopper because it was so significant.

![]() ![]() Well, whichever the case, it's great to have you! Welcome to the nut house ![]() Was a representative of the unit there with you during the trial? I wonder what they might have to say about the positionality of your stimulation. In many cases, several tweak sessions are needed to get it right. Do stick around! Rae |

I am in no way an evil twin of MD in pain. I just am new to the forum, saw the post, saw some similarities in our situations so chose the name mdinpain2.
I did have have lots of tweaks and did have the company rep there. They approached the nerve root from below and got great position but lousy "positionality" if there is a word. Yes my family did most of the laughing at the time...mine came later. I'm looking for someone who knows about this and whether I can expect it to settle with time. My problem is a saphenous neuropathy after a simple knee scope not responding to any conventional or unconventional therapy hence the stimulator . I know some places are using dorsal root ganglion stimulation and high frequency stim as well. My centre here in Canada does not offer these therapies so am wondering if there is any experience with them for painful neuropathies. thanks mdinpain2 |
