Default Scar question...

Hi guys!

Hope you are all doing well. I have not posted in a while as I am struggling a lot these days with my RSD and IC...and other things. Many of you know that I had two SCS's implanted in June 2011, a revision in Nov 2011 on the thoracic one and then both of them removed in Jan 2014. Two of the four scars keep getting irritated and itchy. One in particular right now is red, bumpy/lumpy and itchy...is this normal for eight months after surgery? It will get irritated and clear up, get irritated and clear up...this time it is more irritated. I know I should call my dr since I don't see her until November (my PCP), but I have been to so many drs lately and go to another one next week that I am so tired of it!!

Thanks guys!
Nanc

Default hmmm

Hi Nanc.
I have been lurking for months also...over all---I am well.

Those scars are @ 8 months...you don't say the skin is broken so I am assuming it is not. Are these scars that were reopened for the removal?
My thoughts are that being lumpy bumpy is normal and itchy can be part of the healing especially if it is an area that have been cut into a few times ---like cutting scars to re-scar---I would watch it real close...does it give off heat like fever or infection?
Maybe massage the area...and call the doc so it is documented.
I really understand being sick of doctors.
keep us posted and I do hope for you that other things in your life start to resolve also.

Thanks HB!
You are correct, the skin is not broken and yes, they are the ones that were reopened for removal. The odd thing is that they seemed to be all healed up, then they get all irritated, then they are fine again and so on, now this is the worst they have been. I haven't noticed heat from them, but need to pay closer attention to them. They took a little bit longer to heal at the beginning because I had a really bad allergic reaction to the mastisol glue and steri strips they used in the OR....that was not fun

I may end up calling my PCP to see if she can see me next week anyway, unrelated to this, hope she can see me. Already have a GI appt midweek...my poor husband! He has to drive Ms Daisy everywhere...

Thanks again!
