Unhappy Well Crap :(

Things here in nowhere have not changed much. Still working too much and literally crash and burn after I get home. On my days off I spend attempting to reduce levels so I can rest. Have not taken anything other then over the counter medications but they cut the pain very little good thing my SCS decreases the pain what it does. Talked with my hunny at length last night (I couldn't sleep again) We decided it was time to do another nerve ablation, My SCS does not hit one nerve path, we have tried many times in the past to get coverage with no success, so as some of you know I went with the ablation... I had taken a stand that if I had to do the "diagnostic testing" again. That in a nut shell is to **** off the nerve to be sure you are "really" having pain before insurance will pay for it . So today when I was charging my lifesaver, it popped up a new message ERI, that basically means my battery will soon croak

Pooh,

Appears you will soon be replacing a battery. Curious about nerve ablation. Was your previous ablation a substantial lessening of pain? Hope all of this is sufficient since you are using only OTC medication. Really feel for you working with all this chronic pain. :

Gerry
Gerry, I REALLY SHOULD be using some other medications, don't have any, cannot take and work, so really don't want any. But I do lecture my ER and OR patients about pain management keeping ahead of that to improve function and recovery time. So I think actually at this time I would take them at night and on my days off
As far as the ablation it did help, the pain, I am not kidding that the "blind test" is beyond what I am willing to do unless things are this bad. Basically the "test" is they do 2 separate injections into the nerve root, one is the general epidural type mix, the other one... not sure what that was but I am a fairly tough old broad...it exacerbated my pain by 100x's. I layed in bed and bawled like a baby.... see the goal is to make sure you are "truly in pain" and the procedure might help. You rate your pain with all that good stuff every 30-60 min. They then compare the pain rating from each test.
The kicker to the whole deal is that the ablation may or may not work, may work right away or in several months. If it does work there is no guarantee how long it will last.
Was ready to do this again IF they didn't need to do "the test" for my insurance company.
Such is the life of an OLD OLD NURSE with RSD

Pooh,

The "test" is awful. Possibly the doctor could give the insurance a form (similar to a prior authorization) explaining "test" should not be necessary since you had previously done ablation testing in the past. Might be worth a try. Nothing to lose.

Heart Omigosh

How VERY well I remember the torture of that diagnostic tool called discogram. I was heard screaming all of the way from the OR to the waiting room where my family waited. Then to learn of the blind study........my gosh, how HOW can this be ethical and not cruel?

I am sorry dear Pooh that you have had to Endure THIS. How can I not be angry at this.....for me....for you. I was told after my particular screaming session where the solution injected into my ruined disc "leaked like a sieve!" At last, I was believed. Soon, the first of the deep back surgeries came to pass. How I hate torment and torture. OK, so you are tough Pooh, that I know and understand, but honest to God, I do feel your pain!

I pray for your deliverance from this!

HUGZ a plenty!

Default I don't understand

Why they gave to go in and test it again when you had it in the past? I well remember my testing and my sobbing and screams like Marks were heard in the waiting room. That first testing was way way back in 2008, in a controlled environment under X-ray with the nerve injected by golly it hurt, they have never required me to go through that again so why you do is beyond me. Big hug
