Good morning all! Foggy out today...hope it doesn't delay flights for anyone, since O'Hare is a major hub...
I am free of my friend the catheter!! I was able to void to the dr's satisfaction. It's so much easier to walk and sit (now that I don't have something stabbing me). Slept much better, too.
I am resting as you all suggest. I get way too tired way too easily...
DIL came over and cleaned for the holidays for me. My DH says he's not opposed to getting a cleaning person...wahoo!! I suggested it would give me more time and energy to devote to cooking...he absolutely loves my cooking...
Sandy, glad Jim's appt. went well, and that he had a nice nurse stab him...
Sox, sorry to hear about your mom...hope she feels better soon...
Pam, hope DS gets over this latest bout quickly and he's up and running around real soon...
Barb, take care of yourself...:hug:

Have a wonderful day, everyone!!:)

Pam, sorry to hear that the ds is sick again. :( Prayers going out.

Barb, sorry to hear about the leg. Rest up! :hug::hug:

Sox, hope your mom is ok. :hug::hug:

Sandy, I know MS isn't one of the high priority ones in my area either. Neither is Chrone's (sp?) which is making my friend upset since she is a firm believer of those shots. Glad Jim got his though. Nice of the nurse to do that for you guys.

Everyone, :grouphug::grouphug:

~~~~~~~
Got my puttering mostly done. Breaks and a nap included. Only a couple of little things left to do, but other than that it's rest, rest, rest.
The first wave are my parents with the niece and nephews in tow. Then my brother, his wife, and her mother. Not an unexpected arrangement. They found out last year that the kids travel better this way, and it gives their parents a much needed break. :)
Looking forward to seeing everyone. Just did not feel like traveling this holiday season and I'm glad they could come down here for part of it.
Take care all! :hug::hug:
Morning all! Jim is feeling fine from his shot. No side effects except a little weak but heck, that could be the ms. My plan for the day is to get busy on the blankets. I hope to get a bunch done today so I can get that off my mind.
Have a good day everyone! :hug:
Please say a prayer for my niece Tina. She's 41 years old and has a cancerous growth in her throat. It's metasticized, and they just found it a few days ago. She has no insurance and is on her way to Chicago to see a specialist. She's single with one teenaged daughter. She works about 80 hours a week. She has a very nice boyfriend, thank God. I hope this isn't too serious. She's very beautiful too, I hope they don't have to do anything that will disfigure her face. :(
Wiz, I commented on your thread in the Sanctuary. I hope she's going to be okay.
I went and picked up the ham and a few groceries for Thursday. The grocery store was packed! I didn't expect it to be. Not sure what I expected but I sure wasn't ready for the crowd! Got my things and left. So glad I don't have to venture back there tomorrow.
My kitchen sink has been backing up with water whenever I run the dishwasher. :rolleyes: My landlord came over yesterday and ran a snake thingy through the pipes but it didn't seem to help. He left some sort of drain treatment that I'm supposed to put in at night. I'll do that tonight (he just dropped the treatment off this morning). I told him I really need to be able to use my dishwasher on Thursday. He said he didn't find a clog so I'm not sure what the problem is. This house is only about 10 years old so I'm thinking the pipes should still be okay.
I'm pooped now.......the crowds and running around this morning did me in. I think I deserve a nap! :cool:
Glad to hear those who were feeling poorly are better now. Those who are still under the weather I hope you feel better real soon.
:grouphug: to everyone! :)
Went to the post office this morning, was fitted for compression knee high, and went to Hallmark and Cracker Barrel. Now I am ready for a nap. Have you all seen the Hallmark commercial for the Night Before Christmas where you can record your voice reading the book? I am such a pushover so I bought one for my niece Anya. This is about the 5th gift I have gotten here. I need to stop.:o Although this one is am early Christmas present so it does not count;). I already sent her "Fancy Nancy's Splendiferous Christmas." She does love Fancy Nancy!
I feel so bad for her. She had her four year check up today -- three shots, plus a tb test, plus a finger prick for blood, and H1N1 flu mist. She is in the 75% for height (last year was 50%) and has a BMI of 50%. I really wish I could see her for the holidays. She told me that she wanted me to come to the Christmas parade with them -- "Just get on an airplane and fly down!" She wrote her letter to Santa and said she wanted to be taken off of the naughty list:D.
Good morning everyone!
Wiz- I will keep your niece, you, and your family in my prayers.:hug::hug:
Debbie - Glad you here you are free of you catheter "friend" and all went well at the drs.
Sandy - That was so sweet of that nurse to do that for Jim.
TKTC - Your poor DS! I hope he mends quickly this time. Saying a prayer for him.
Fin - It is nice that everyone is able to come to your house for Thanksgiving. I thought of you the other day as I was talking to my sister and asking if one of my other brothers, niece, and nephew were coming to my parents. She told me to remember 1 potato for each person. LOL I guess what mom's teach kids stick with them.:D Enjoy having your family there.
Barb - My mom wears compression stockings due to blood clots. It takes her a while to get them on but they really do help. Well, that and Coumadin.
Jackie - Hope you are feeling better today. :hug::hug:
Kelly - Hope the drain solution worked. Having the dishwasher on Thursday is rather important. Of course, DSs would make good dishwashers too.;)
Vonn - Thinking of you and hoping and praying all goes well today.:hug::hug: Check in when you can.
Sox - How did your mom's appt go?
Hi everyone else. Thinking of you as well.
Yesterday I decided to clean out my closet. My SIL gave me some clothes, well, actually a lot of clothes. I now have pretty girly things to wear.:p No more worrying about leaving the house in an old shirt with holes or stains or paint or etc. So I put it all away and got rid of the old shirts with holes, stains, paint, etc. It's was a good feeling and I am so grateful that she did that. (Of course she did it a couple of weeks ago but I finally cleaned out the junk I don't need/want anymore.)
Today's plans include dusting and vacuuming this morning and hopefully some painting. DD18 comes home this afternoon and I am excited to spend the whole weekend with her. So I am trying to get my chores (a.k.a. cleaning) done before she gets here so I can relax and spend time with her.
Wiz, praying for your niece. :hug::hug:
~~~~~~

The kids getting here first without the parents wasn't too bad. Yep, they have enough energy to power our neighborhood, but they behaved rather well.

So sitting here enjoying some morning coffee before they descend again. The kids love to swim, so going back to the hotel isn't a disappointment to them.

Got some bread to pick up to pull by hand. Enlisting their help this year. And a couple of pumpkin pies to make. I found the easiest recipe for it and it doesn't come out bad. But then again I cheat, cheat, cheat. But it still comes out of the oven, so it's mostly homemade. :D

one unbaked pie shell (Mine comes from the frozen food section of the store)
1 large can Pumpkin Pie mix (Libby's puts all the spices in for you)
1 can condensed sweetened milk
2 eggs

Mix eggs, pie mix, and milk until smooth. Pour into crust. Bake at 425 for 15 minutes, then drop the temp to 350 and bake for another 35.

If I don't see you, HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! everyone.

soxmom 11-25-2009 09:54 AM

Im off to make cranberry relish with the first grade(I love being a first
grader!lol) but wanted to leave you all warm wishes for a peaceful
Thanksgiving.:grouphug::grouphug:
