Morning all :)

I managed to get that perfect time before all the lines got full at the grochery store. :) The crowds added only 30 minutes to my normal length of shopping time, so wasn't too bad.

So I'm off to putter and do some more cleaning as soon as the coffee kicks in. :)

Hoping Everyone has a good day. :grouphug::grouphug:

Barb, LOL! Makes me thankful I have a hubby that wants to cook every once in awhile. Of course, we have two very different styles. We've made it a rule that whoever is the chef, it is their kitchen for the moment and the other stays out of the way. Believe me, it cuts down on arguments. :D

Vonn, New york style or Chicago deep dish? My hubby is a deep dish fan, where as I grew up where a real pizza was one you had to fold in order to keep the toppings from slipping off. :D

Moo, best of luck with the shot.

Kitty, LOL! reminds me of when I first got married. I mainly learned how to make desserts as a kid, but never learned how to cook. We have a deep appreciation for hamburger helper getting us through those rough first years. :D

Trish, Hope your mom is going to be okay as well.:hug:

Goooood morning, everyone!! Thanksgiving week...yahoo!! My favorite holiday, because it is the only one in our country that celebrates being thankful to God, Creator, whatever...if we would concentrate more on what we are grateful for, I think this would be a better world...:)

Off to the surgeon this morning...as you might have seen on another thread, am having probs. with catheter. I decided to monitor the situation yesterday and last night rather than call...probably a bad decision, but I didn't want to spend the evening in the ER and miss that wonderful Bears game:rolleyes:.

DH and I got all the kids gifts wrapped last night. We celebrate Thanksgiving Thursday, then Friday decorate for Christmas and open gifts Friday evening. So I'm going to attempt to get Christmas cookies made today, fudge tomorrow (yum), and then desserts for Thursday made on Wednesday.

I am surprised at how exhausted I get by any amount of exertion. The surgeon's assistant told me beforehand that I wouldn't feel normal for 6 wks. and I laughed at him. My bad...plus, my legs are giving me problems. Drop foot is more pronounced, and my thighs and shins get real sore after only a short time of standing. I'm wondering if the surgery threw me into a bit of an exaserbation:confused:.

Anyway, I bet that some of you will be very busy this week. I hope for all who are traveling that you make your destination safely, and for those keeping put, I hope you enjoy the season...despite all of the problems in our world, and with our health, we do have much to be thankful for. Especially for this site, where we can get info and support and those so-important hugs...

:D

Kel, Barb, Pam, Sarah, Holly, Weav, Wiz, Moo have a wonderful holiday week!

My update: So busy, whew! Still dragging from the flu....the fatigue really
stinks!

Plans have changed today as my Mom was out cleaning the outside of
her windows on a stool and fell onto her back on the cement:(. She
had xrays and a preliminary reading and it looks like no break. But the
radiologist is going to look at it today.

A few years ago she broke her sacrum(sp?). She has struggled since(She
is only 66 years old). She has soft bones so I am worried. Anyway, Im
going over there shortly to make some dinner as my Dad is at work. I will
just double it and bring half home.:)

Tomorrow I grocery shop. We are going to my Uncles in New York for thanksgiving.
There will be 37 of us, the first ;time in forever we all are going to be
together! Im really looking foreward to that.

On Wednesday we are making cranberry sauce with our first graders. We
are using the old grinders and are cooking it in the class! My son has
the best first grade teacher ever!

I wish all of you a relaxing Thanksgiving...spent however you like to
spend it. Be good to yourselves and each other!!!!!!:grouphug::grouphug:

Morning all! Jim and I are heading out to the VA today. He has a dental appointment and an evaluation for his exercise machine. Then we are heading back home. It's going to get really cold here this week so I am glad I have all my lights up. Well, I have two bushes left but the are net lights so it wont be hard.

Sox, it is awesome having my son here! He helped with the lights and even put the tree up in the house. WHOOHOO! I got to sit back while he did all the work. He left Nik some ornaments and his personal ones to put on the tree Wednesday. Nik was excited about that. I have to say I gave them the xmas bug, they both still get excited about xmas. My mom is a bah humbug at xmas because of everyone that has passed. I told her she cannot be one this year, not allowed. She actually got excited when I told her we have to get her an ornament for the tree.

Jenn, glad the crowds weren't too bad!

Well, everyone have a good day.

tkrik 11-23-2009 10:58 AM

Good morning everyone!

Sox - OUCH!!! Your poor mom! I hope that nothing is broken. Let us know how it goes. Praying for your mom.

Sandy - Hope Jim can get that exercise machine. That would be awesome. DD19 has the Christmas bug all year long. LOL She loves Christmas. She'd fit right in with your boys. LOL

Vonn - Now that's my kind of Thanksgiving. LOL Well, I do like to make a nice turkey dinner but I don't want all the commotion. I like them nice a quiet.:p Keeping you in my prayers and hope all goes well on Wednesday.

Fin - I went to the store yesterday to pick up a few things and the lines were so long. I didn't expect that on a Sunday evening. 30 minutes extra in a store is 30 minutes too long for me. :D I hate shopping - any kind of shopping.

Barb - LOL. I guess I have a high maintenance man.:D That question belongs in my Silly Questions/Silly Answers thread. LOL

Debbie - Give yourself some time. Surgery of any kind can take its toll on the body. Become the Queen of Delegation over the next few weeks and in particular this week. Hope you feel better soon.

Hi Everyone else! Thinking of you as well.

Not too much planned for the day - at least not right now. My sister is coming today and will probably go see her this afternoon to visit as well as help with whatever needs to be done at my parents house. My mom hired a maid so there is no cleaning that needs to be done. This maid is awesome. She's my brother and SIL's maid and I so wish I could afford her to come in and do a detailed cleaning once a month for me. Anyhow, I don't know what needs to be done there, if anything.

DD19 borrowed my car as she didn't have a ride to work one evening. I have a couple of things to return to Target and I'd love to go as early as possible in the morning and I have to pick up potatoes as DDs and I are supposed to bring mashed potatoes on Thursday as well as some homemade salsa. I should have done all of this yesterday morning - early! Early Sunday mornings at the grocery store are awesome!!! No one is there so no obstacles, distractions, long lines, etc. Easy, peaceful shopping.:p

Have a good day everyone.:hug::grouphug:

Round two: 14 yr old son is sick again. The school called and he had a 103 temp. We went to Urgent care because his regular doc was booked by 9am this morning. They tested everything and said it was viral. Not seasonal flu, but possibly H1N1. Since he wasn't tested last time until the 7th day, there is no way to know what he had before. He had high temp and other symptoms that the doc thought ruled out just a ordinary cold. SO Tamiflu was prescribed. Not looking forward to its possible side effects, but the kid can't go through what he did last time. THey did a CBC and his blood counts are good. This kid has rarely been sick. He had strep at 5 and 7 years of age... no ear infections, no normal childhood illnesses ..nada. Now this in less than a month.

It's a good thing we decided not to travel to visit family.

barb02 11-23-2009 06:54 PM

Pam, Hope your ds feels better soon.

Tricia and Soxmom -- Your poor moms! Hope they both are ok.

Well my house is all decorated. Once I started I could not stop until I was done. It took about two days. Why does one person need two trees?

I am going to a friend's for Thanksgiving. I think there will be about 14 people there -- all family and me. I am taking rolls! I think I can handle that:D.

I did some shopping this morning (drove one hour each way) and had a doctor's appointment this afternoon. I was impressed. I called at 2:30 and they fit me in at 4:00. My pcp actually spent a half hour with me.

My "good" leg has been bothering me a lot the past week or so. She thinks that my phlebitis is acting up. I was dx with mild phlebitis three years ago prior to ms dx. It has not bothered me since then. So she ordered compression knee highs that I am supposed to wear when driving a lot or walking more than normal. I think my shopping trip last weekend and my increased activity has aggravated it. If that does not help, I will need another Doppler ultrasound. She also referred me to a pulmonary specialist for possible sleep apnea (appointment in February), and talked me into trying actonel for my osteopenia. I have been putting off doing anything about it since last May. Oh -- and she ordered blood work for liver/cholesterol. So it was an eventful appointment.

I was given orders to relax the rest of this week off!;)

SandyC 11-23-2009 08:49 PM

Hey we're home! Jim's dental appointment and pt appointment went well. I inquired about the H1n1 shot and was told they did not have any for patients. I told them it's listed on the web that they have it so the nurse called the Infectious Disease clinic and we went about our way to the dental appointment. According to the VA website MS is not on the priority list anyway even though all the neuros and spinal cord docs say they are. (Except Jim's doctor who thinks the shot is too new to gauge)

So, we leave and go to Jim's appointment. A little later the ID (infectious disease) nurse comes in and goes to the back for a bit. I am thinking she is giving shots to workers because we were told only workers could get it. She come out and sits next to me and says she just gave Jim his H1n1 shot. Now that's service with an A+! How many times can one say the nurse comes to you wherever you are? LOL
