Hi Everybody! :grouphug:

My kitty cat drama update:

On Saturday morning I was really worried about Rocky attacking Daisy so I called the vet's office and got the emergency vet in the neighboring county. (He weighs ten lbs. and she weighs one, soaking wet, lol.)

She called me back and gave me lots of good advice so they've had only "supervised playtimes" since then. She said that if he tackles her and starts to bite, he needs to be removed immediately and it's ok to yell or scold him so he knows that it's wrong. She's getting scolded if she goes after his tail/food dishes/tummy or tail, too. :rolleyes:

They're doing much better and they like to play "cat and mouse" a lot. :D She's the mouse of course.

She goes from one hiding spot to the next and bounces around the house like a monkey. It's just so adorable I can hardly stand it. :D

She isn't doing the sucking anymore so that's a good thing. When she's shut in DS's room, she'll cry to get out, and Rocky will cry too if we let it go on too long. :Sob:

They're slowly but surely becoming good buddies and we're going to try to make sure nobody bullies the other, especially while she's so tiny. When they get older they can fight it out if necessary.

My niece update:

Tina saw the surgeon and he said he's 85% sure the cancer originated on her tongue and that it spread to the lymph node. She'll have surgery in Chicago in a couple of weeks (I don't know the date yet) and he's going to make a large incision behind her ear and go in to remove the growth from her tongue and look at the surrounding area to make sure he gets it all.

I'm hoping and praying it will just be the one spot and he can get it all without doing too much cutting. If it's as he thinks it is, she'll then have a series of radiation treatments afterward. He didn't say anything about chemo that I know of.

One thing I should mention, Tina smoked for many years, but as soon as she found out it was cancer, she quit cold turkey and says it hasn't bothered her. She's so worried though and not sleeping at night, which is understandable.

I'll be going to spend the night next weekend with both nieces and my sister too. We're going to cheer Tina up and bring her some surprises too. :) She wants to get her Christmas shopping done as well.

As for myself, I'm still applying for jobs steadily. The one I'd really like should be hiring soon, so keep me in your prayers that I have a good chance.

Chasing after the kitties is exhausting, though DS does most of it. They need supervised playtimes and then each needs lots of special attention to know they're well loved. We might die of exhaustion but they'll both be very well trained and with high self esteem. :D :rolleyes:

I read your updates and sending out hugs, prayers, and love to you all. You all mean a lot to me and I love reading your updates. :grouphug:

Good Morning!! I plan on making my garage sale signs today. I had to call the newspaper yesterday and have the lady read my ad back to me 'cos I couldn't remember what time I had my sale starting! :o She just laughed and said that alot of people do that.

Beautiful day here but heavy rain is forecast for tomorrow. It's supposed to be clear and cold on Saturday.....that's the only day I'm concerned with,

I'm having second thoughts about selling my piano now. :rolleyes: It's purely sentimental reasons but I know from experience that until I'm ready I won't be OK with letting it go. I did that with some of DH's things and I was shocked at how upset I was. Never doin' that again.

I'm going to try and get another hour or so of sleep this morning. A plumber is scheduled to be here at 10 AM to see what the problem is with my kitchen sink.

Everyone have a good day! :grouphug:

Kelly, most people advise having the new cat be in a separate room for awhile until the old one gets used to the new scent and then limited play until they get used to each other. I finally have a cat that if we get another furbaby, we'll have to do that. That is one good vet, you've got.

Wiz, prayers going out. :hug::hug:

Pam, feel better soon. :hug::hug:

Sandy, glad to hear your mom's going to be released soon. :)

Jackie, I'm sorry you're hubby isn't feeling well. Totally understand the frustration sometimes when we can't help them like we think we should. :hug::hug:

Vonn, wish I liked gingersnaps, gingerbread, etc. But can only handle the taste of ginger in small quantities. :(

Everyone, :grouphug::grouphug:

Good morning everyone!

Wiz - Keeping you niece as well as you and your family in my prayers.:hug:

Kelly - LOL. Sounds like something I would do. I keep a calendar on my desk and that helps me keep track of things. If I have something real important to remember, I put a post it on my door so I don't forget. :rolleyes:

Pam - I hope you start feeling better soon.:hug:

Sarah - Don't worry about breaking down like that. It is a good thing to have a good cry. Hang in there. If you continue to feel down like that talk to your dr about it as he/she can recommend a counselor and/or meds to help you through all of this.:hug:

Vonn - I read your post yesterday but have slept since then.:o:p I hope you are feeling better and your throat is less sore.:hug:

Jackie - :hug:'s for you too. You do take care of your DH more than you think. Emotional support is just as important. :hug: I hope your DH feels better soon.

Weave - I get my hair cut for $10.00 at a local salon. I've been going there for several years now and the girl I go to helps me out some. I have long hair and she charges me for short hair. If I have her color it she charges me for a cut, shampoo, and style which is way cheaper. She's awesome. My last cut was done by my 14-year old niece.:eek::D She did a good job as she cut 5 inches (give or take) off. One side is a bit longer than the other but I wear it in a ponytail most of the time.;) Ask around and see who other people go to or recommend.

Sandy - Yeah!!!! I am so glad your mom is going to be released and you all will be picking her up. That is awesome!:hug:

Everyone else - Thinking about you all as well.:hug:

Have a few projects to work on today. We pick names in our family and the tradition is that you make the gift. It always amazes me the ideas and creativity that goes in to these gifts. Last year my brother had us and made me a domino set out of wood. He cut, sanded, stained and put the marks in each piece. A lot of work went in to that and they are absolutely beautiful. So cool!!! I've been trying to get my creative juices flowing and have come up with a couple of ideas.

Have a great day everyone!

Back in my office at school and ready for class. I am now marking off the days on my calendar until the end of the semester.:o I imagine the students are doing the same.

The rumor mill says that furloughs will start in February, but we do not have a firm policy yet. The president has stated that February is the deadline to develop a policy. It appears that as long as we are under contract, those represented by unions (which includes faculty) cannot be furloughed (unless the unions agree wtih the policy). However our current contract expires in May. Plus that would mean fourloughing just administrators (which does not bother me too much) and low level civil service employees (which does not seem fair).

morning everyone .. thanks for your thoughts and prayers regarding my throat ... all seems to be well ... I'm trying to remember who said it would be more like 5 days instead of the 2 that the nurses told me (was it Weave?? thanks!!) ...

the follow-up girl phoned last night to hear about my progress - and I mentioned about the 5 day healing vs 2 days ... :D but, I was kind about it ...

trying not to think too much about moving ... and then I get this overwhelming "GOOD" feeling about moving back to Green Bay ... and would be able to empty out my storage unit and have everything in ONE place with a bit more room ..

I get excited about thinking about it - setting up my knitting machine .... and getting a long-arm quilting machine (eventually) ... to make some extra $$ quilting quilts for others ...

tomorrow - is the follow-up with the doctor and talk about what the next step to do about the cholesterol results, now ...

I'm good - really good ... and I'm not going to let the MS stop me from spreading my wings ... the quilt program has helped me to realize who I am ... all my life, (way back to high school), I would make afghans and doilies to give to friends and family for their birthdays, etc ... and I'd get the "Vonn, you don't make anything giving your stuff away!!!" ... so, (thanks to the MS) ... I got my head together and figured that THAT is who I am!!! and started an outreach program, got a master's degree to boot ... and shed a tear of joy when I ship off a quilt!! knowing that I'm doing a good thing!

okay - lots to do (like pack!) .. and work on more goodies!!

have a great day .. .thanks for letting me blab on!!

Morning all! I have to take the darn car in again. It's doing the same thing showing warnings, this time about the emergency brake. That's how it started before. I love when you call and they act like it's not a big deal. So off to the shop at 2pm. So much for getting anything done around here. About picking mom up. The car needs to be fixed, Chris has to work doubles all next week so we have to take the dog. That leaves no room in the van for mom to pile her stuff in. Argh.

Sorry for the vent.

OK, that's it. I want to be a meteorologist and make lots of money. :mad: I've gotten a different forecast for Saturday's weather every time I watch the news. Saturday is my long-planned-for garage sale. This morning it was forecast to be sunny and cold. Now.....they're saying rain/snow showers and a high of 43! :eek:

I think I'll quit watching the weather and do it like my Dad used to do. Just look out the window. :rolleyes:

Vonn07 12-02-2009 07:58 AM

hey Kelly ... don't fret about the weather ... those true-blue garage sales people venture out in almost anything!! I know - I was one once ... well, my mom was!!

spending the day with a friend - a little shop hopping (quilt shops, of course) ... and 4pm follow-up with the doctor regarding the liver biopsy tests ...

have a great day!! make it special!! :Dancing-Chilli:
