Everybody loves food, I bet you the Godiva gems you can't think of one person that does not like food. Tofu is a food honey, I know it looks and tastes like a used loofa sponge but it is food. Food is the topic of most conversations, I don't eat this or I don't eat that. I can't eat this because it makes my butt look big. I'm allergic is a more acceptable response to keep from sounding vain or down right rude.
Well guess I'm not allergic to any food but I sho nuff as Baptists go to church on Sunday hear alot about food. Why just look at all the pills, cleanse teas, diet foods, and all those other things telling you what is good for a body and what ain't. I might would be more inclined to believe it, except that I grew up with great aunts and uncles that lived to be well past eighty, most into their nineties. My grandmother is getting closer to 102 every day. These old folks ate fried everything, rice, potatoes or whatever they wanted. I was watching that ole tellie and here pops up some fool telling me that Alli will help be more conscious in watching what I eat. HUH? I am conscious of what I eat and I watch it as it goes in my mouth. I see people from the ole school days, etc. and they say 'you used to be so skinny', I smile and say politely I have HTM disease. They get this really stunned look and then they tell me they thought I have MS. I smile, oh that too...then they get home to Google it to find out if its contagious or terminal. For those of you that have never heard the term...equal to Hand To Mouth disease. ![]() I am totally fine with people eating healthy food, I don't have a problem with people eating no meat, you can eat whatever you like and I will even cook it for you. However, don't tell me I shouldn't eat that piece of cake or fry my potatoes. You don't want to eat that, that's your choice, I eat what I prefer. I've been skinny, still ate what I wanted and I was healthy and if I wanted to be skinny now, I would. Think of all the chemicals that been poured into the air, water, land, and even products used in foods for processing. Yeah, that might account for ninety plus percent of health issues. I like food, my family likes the food I cook and they are healthy. I don't load them up on sugar and I use moderate amounts of salt with healthy doses of herbs and spices. You won't find the right kind of food for you every where you go, probably not most places you do go...but here on the porch, you pick what you want, cooked just as you want it. You want sugar in your cookies or rather have splenda...its fine. You need somewhere to go where you feel at home because you are you, not because of what other people think you should be. You are special and should be appreciated for your character, your compassion, your honesty and your friendship. So who is eating what tonight, do you want fries with that? ![]() ![]() |

Growing up in the South......food was the focal point of every event. My fondest memories are of the breakfast table at Mimi's old farm house in N.C.. Country ham, red eye gravy, biscuits (the homemade little silver dollar sized ones), homemade pear preserves, "Mimi toast" which was just bread toasted in the oven since Mimi didn't own a toaster, and real butter.
Nobody ever scolded anyone for eating too much. But you would get scolded if you didn't eat enough! I've heard of HTM disease! ![]() ![]()

I usually eat what I'm craving. Lately, it's raw veggies and dip, field greens with cherry tomatoes and a fig/walnut vinaigrette or baked Italian chicken breast. During the holidays, it was all sugar... divinity, fudge, chocolate pie. I have to have my Buffalo Rock Ginger Ale with lunch.

Yep been on a diet and what ever exercise I can get, for almost 3 weeks. Lost 20+ lbs so far. Now my boat will go faster. Hey dont forget the Duct tape illness.
Yes Momma, we are settling in to our new home and just waiting for the start of a complete renovation. The house will be adapted totally for wheel chair accessibility by the Veterans Administration. Pics will come soon. Keep on eating!! |

![]() Seems to me if the man upstairs did not want us to enjoy the food he would not have put us in the land of plenty.
