We reduced our cable package to basic years ago and never missed it. Now if there is a series we want to see, we just rent it at the end of the season. We started doing that even with shows we get. Now we can watch the program when we want and save about 20 minutes in commercials.

I think I'll cancel cable at the end of the month. DD's birthday is this month and she'll have friends sleep over. I know they like to watch the Disney channel all night so they'll have it that night.

Besides we're big movie people and with NetFlix we get unlimited movies. Plus there's always NetFlix movies online as well as TV shows. I think I just convinced myself I'm making a good choice (I hope!). I'm the one who watches TV the most and I will definitely miss it.

Our county library has a massive DVD section that I can check out for free! I've seen lots of programs that the A&E and History channels have shown. I love to watch documentary type shows so I'll be checking these out often. Plus, I can get a few books while I'm there, too.

You're lucky Kitty, our library has a small selection. We do take movies out from there every once in a while and even have ones from other libraries in the county sent there for us to pick up. But since their selection is small, it's hard to find movies we all like. NetFlix is only $19 per month so that's not too bad. It would cost us twice that price to go the moves for one night! When a movie we want to see comes out, we add it to our que and when it is released to NetFlix then we get to see it. We also go to Movies10where it costs less than $2 to see a movie if we really want to see it and can't wait.

I'm keeping my cable - it's my internet and phone too, and that saves me money. My phone would cost me a lot more otherwise. Plus it's the only way to see Ghost Hunters International!

I don't really watch a lot of movies, but when the granddaughter is here we watch hours of Nick Jr.

I Wubbzy!

It's taken me a long time to come to the decision to have only the bare bones cable. But, it's a necessity for me. I'm sure it'll take some getting used to but in the big scheme of things, for me, it's not impossible. If I had young children at home or anyone else here with me during the day I'd probably opt to keep it.

I think the biggest change for me will be not having a landline. But, I don't talk on the phone that much. And since I've had my Safelink phone I have managed to stockpile over 750 minutes! I could talk for a month and still have minutes! I just have to let everyone know that my number will be different. Mass email will be good for that!

For me the phone cost stays the same, internet goes up $10 but cable goes down $70. But that's what the guy told me last night and I'll have to call and check on it again before I switch. My DD watches maybe an hour of regular TV a day and I only watch in the evenings for a few hours. The TV's never on during the day so I can enjoy the peace and quiet. My DD actually made it through toddlerhood (is that a word?) with only one channel to watch. No Nick, no Disney, no Cartoon Network. I'm still amazed by that.

Some days I never turn the TV on. The quiet is so nice. I'll play music on the computer and read. It's very relaxing.

I'll be glad when this ON is over so I can read again without getting a headache.

We're canceled our Y membership. We receive financial assistance but we still pay half the monthly fee. We never go anymore so I figure we can use that money elsewhere. I'd rather exercise for free!! Since I am doing that I may just keep the cable. Someone make up my mind for me!

I never go out. Don't have a Y memebrship, go out to eat, not even fast food, no movies even rentals, nada. And half my family is out of state. So the phone/(basic)cable/dsl saves me, seriously. My old phone bill and ISP cost as much as this package and I did not get free long distance calls.

I could live w/o if I had to, but why? That's as frugal as I need to be for now.

I'm saving probably $300 a month or better heating the house with the ventless heaters and not turning on the furnace.

And the front load washer/dryer saved a ton of money on electric, water and detergents. I got them on clearance and the savings have already paid for the dryer.
