I'm going to give everyone some first. Know you guys are all in my thoughts and prayers.
Sorry haven't been on much, but my mood tanked for a few days. Learned it's never a good idea to post stuff when I'm that way. Like I said before, I have a tendency to get "foot in mouth" disease when I'm feeling that way. Called the doc's office again and the lady said there was no record of my previous call. Probably my own fault. I'm not usually that rude. But I also requested my test results sent to my house even though I'm assuming at this point that everything was normal. So we're going to see what happens. She said to call back if I don't hear anything by the end of day today. fun, fun, fun. But the good things are that I'm still plugging away at the exercise machine and learned how to bake some pork chops without them drying out. Quickly searing the meat to keep the juices in helps a ton. Take care everyone!

Good morning everyone!
Checking in real quick this morning as I have a busy day planned. I have a dr. appt this morning with my new PCP and then running a couple of errands. Home for a rest/nap and then off to pick up DD19 as today is her birthday!!! Hard to believe she is 19. We're going to my parents to celebrate her bday as it will be easier on my parents. Plus, they only live a few miles from the dorms. DD20 will be coming over today to help with any decorations and such for the party. We had some storms yesterday and the temps dropped to the low 80's upper 70's. My body felt like it won the lottery. Bring it on fall! I am so ready for you. (Of course, we have another few months of this.). Debbie - I have been keeping you sister in my daily prayers as well as you. Holly - LOL There are days I want to be left at Alcatraz. On a little island by the ocean all alone. (Well, except the ghosts that are supposed to be there.). Hope you have a great trip! Remember its hot as heck out here right now. Fin - We all have days like that. Hi everyone else! Just realized I have to hurry and get in the shower and be ready to go so I can't finish posting. Hope you all have a great day! |

It's never really hot in San Francisco and Lake Tahoe is fairly mild way up in the mountains. Even Reno if it is hot cools off in the evenings. I'm not too scared of the temps. I just hope it isn't flat out cold in SF - it can be even in the summer! This is an area I grew up around, so I'm not scared. I'm excited about taking my kids out there for the first time. I think they will be in awe because it is so different from what they are used to.

Hi everyone...nice to see some of you who haven't been around much...
haven't heard anything about sis...and I'm just too darn tired to call and get into a monologue with her DIL...the other day she called and talked for 53 minutes, and I think I said 20 words...honest! Then she called back later and talked for another 15 min. It's amazing... Mowed the lawn, trimmed back some shrubs, washed and put glasses into the new cabinets, and now I'm toast. Slept most of the afternoon...zzzz. And I'm looking forward to bedtime...so tired. Something to discuss with neuro tomorrow... Well have a good night everyone...take care!!

Good Morning!
It's cloudy here today and I'm thankful for the cooler temps. There is a huge factory fire about 65 miles south of my town.....at a Clorox plant! Pew!! We aren't getting any fumes or smoke this far north but I sure do feel for the people who live close to it. I have plans to steam mop my laminate wood floors today but haven't started the project yet. I usually do it when the cats are sleeping because the steam mop scares them. They must think it's another cat when it hisses out the steam! It's a big job because I have to move all the area rugs and furniture that can be easily slid around. If I keep procrastinating it won't get done today! Time for a piece of toast so I can take my vitamins. Ya'll have a great Thursday!

Morning all! It's so beautiful out!! Why can't it stay this way? I've been painting and cleaning and need to work on the yard. We have a wedding shower this Sunday and wouldn't you know it's going to be 89 degrees? Ugh. After that we have a high school reunion party Jim and I are hosting on the 4th and a pig roast the fraternity is hosting on the 11th. I do believe we are done for the summer after that! One wedding at the end of September, a Bears game and a Hawks game but those are fun and don't require work. haha
Hope your all doing well. I too, am sorry I haven't been around much. I am looking forward to cooler temps too. The snow? Not so much.

Pretty nice here too! Although I have not opened the windows. The weed pollen is extremely high.
I had one of those days in class. Before class started I wrote some legal concepts and cases on the board. A student raises his hand. "Should we write those down?" My reply -- "Well it is up to you, but it would be a good idea. You will be responsible for the material on the exam." A few minutes later, " Do we really have to read all of these Supreme Court cases that are on the syllabus?" (They have 18 pages to read for next Tuesday.) My reply -- "YES!" Can you imagine what I realy wanted to say? There were a few more questions at the end of the class that were similar in nature. "Why are we covering material that is not in the textbooks? This is a 3000 level course -- not an introductory course. Last edited by barb02; 08-26-2010 at 05:26 PM. |

Morning everyone...nice and cool here today, but 90s are expected again
Barb, college students nowadays expect profs to teach to the test, and don't seem to relish the idea of actually learning something they learned this in elementary school...IMHO Saw the neuro yesterday...gave me a high five for no active lesions on the MRI...he said based on the MRI, and the size of the lesions, if I had no sxs, it would be questionable that the lesions were actually MS. But the sxs are definitely indicative...made me so confused. Luckily DH was with me, and told me later that the doc DIDN'T say I didn't have MS...funny, when the doc said this, my immediate question was, "So I can get off the shots?" He just gave me a sidelong glance, as if to say, "silly girl" Then he checked my reflexes...which decided not to show up. He took a hold of one of my ankles and tried to shake my leg loose, to no avail. He said, "Wow, you are so much stiffer than before." Then the dreaded stand, arms up and close the eyes routine. Of course I tipped over. When I opened my eyes, I almost fell...DH & the doc caught me. "Definitely worse." He sat and held my hand and gave me a long lecture about making a plan and that I have a strong team in DH, the doc and his nurse. He said, "Don't hesitate to call us when you feel the need." I told him I don't know when to call...if it's just old stuff why should I call? He said, "When you have any concern at all, that's when you call. That's why I love working in this office instead of at Mayo (did his residency there). I get to talk to my patients 24/7 here, and we have a relationship." Told me to keep a journal (of course I can't remember what to put in it...I'll ask DH). Something about goals I guess. I told him about the fatigue (falling asleep and dropping my sandwich in my milk during lunch, that sort of thing). He asked if allergies were bothering me. Told him I have to remove the CPAP sometimes cause the old nose gets stuffed...so he prescribed a nasal spray. He is trying to get on top of the fatigue through a full night's rest before we go the med route. Also is putting me on a requip holiday; back to neurontin...ugh. At least for a few weeks. All in all it was a fruitful visit. I have around 21 lesions in the brain and one in the cervical spine. At least they didn't light up, right Then last night we went to his lecture...it was about a workshop for partners and how to work together with this stupid disease. DH of course wants to go to it...ugh. Even though I find therapy useful, I hate some of the touch-feely aspects of these types of things... anyway, going to take the inlaws shopping this morning, then get some things done that I keep forgetting to do...like getting tires rotated (I was supposed to do this a month ago, but keep forgetting). Stupid brain I hope that everyone has an absolutely wonderful last weekend of August...hard to believe, isn't it?

Sounds like you have an awesome Neuro, Debbie. I wish we could all have a doctor like yours. I think it's wonderful he gives you such undivided attention. I always feel like mine is just hurrying through my appointment to get to something else.
The weather here is definitely taken a turn for the better. Long range forecast shows mid 80's for the highs and upper 60's for the lows. Ahhhhhhhhh.....please last for a long while. I need the break! I hope everyone is doing well and has a nice weekend planned. At least the temps seem to be cooperating.
