The weekend had it's distractions...DH and I took DS35's two dogs up to DD26's for the weekend so he could help SIL finish construction on their unfinished third bedroom.
DD and I cried together-she was 14 when we picked him out from his 9 bros and sisses on Nov. 19, 1998...12 years, almost to the day, that he left us... she was the one who trained him in obedience class...they were very close. It's easier for her, now that she has her own doggie, to let our baby go.

So what did she and I do over the weekend? Looked at puppies online... I'm sure my doggie would understand...I've been without a dog a whole 10 weeks since 1983. I am going to try to give myself some time to grieve, but to tell the truth, I was looking around months ago...I knew his time to leave was coming soon, and even though I'm not sure I want another one, I am open to thinking about it.

Thanks for all the thoughts and hugs...it means so much!

I am so sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine what you are going through. Twelve years is such a long time. Well, just know that you did the right thing. He didn't have to suffer needlessly, and you were with him when he passed.
