Winding down. Sitting here eating maple leaf cookies and looking out the window. It's about quarter-to-dark, but I can still see the heron down in the river (barely), and someone from the farm riding around the field on the 4-wheeler, probably looking for a calf that mama hid somewhere.

There is smoke rising from somewhere on the back road. Don't know if they're burning brush, having a bonfire...maybe just stoked up the wood stove. It could be in the upper 40's tonight, and it's usually a couple of degrees cooler on the other side of the river.

My husband's already hit the sack, and the game doesn't even start until 9, so I turned off the tv. If I'm jittery and can't sleep, I'll turn it back on. Doubt if I'll be able to rouse myself to look for the Perseid meteor shower. Hope my granddaughter gets to see it, over on Mt. Mansfield.

I actually got a few things crossed off my list today, but wouldn't you know, none of them were things that show! Most were things that only show if you DON'T do them, know what I mean?

got up at 5. The house was completely quiet and still. I sat on the couch and loved on JAck the cat for a few. he seems better today. I love when the house is all quiet and no one wants anything. All needs are met, and every one is tucked away for the night. 6am DS got up. packed a quick lunch, grabbed microwave breakfast stuff I got (so he can eat at work) and off he went. I didnt even lay eyes on him this morning.

DS is frustrated, lonely, bored, sad, and while he understands what we are asking of him, he is a grown man, and its hard to be 16 all over again and follow moms advice. His real father is in the hospital after a major alcoholic binge he told the folks at work when he was too drunk to be allowed to work that he might as well die if he has no job, so they called an ambulance on him. This upsets DS to think his dad is out of control. I didnt tell him the part where his father said that his son has moved out of state and he cant bear not seeing him. Didnt think it would help anyone.

A man stopped by yesterday to say my camper for sale was perfect for his needs, and 20 minutes later his wife was here looking at it. They loved it! I gave them the price, and they didnt seem to blink. I said "its FIRM I cant go lower" and we will see if they show up with money today. It aint sold till its paid for. It upset me tho, cause its another dream stolen by MS.

Im spending the day doing nothing!

I really enjoyed the movie, "The Help." So this is one case where I would recommend both the movie and the book. The movie followed the book pretty closely.

Happy Saturday!

I made some chicken salad this morning and it's chillin' in the fridge now. I'll probably have it for supper. Cut up two canteloupes and one pineapple. Washed a bunch of grapes. So now my fridge is full of fresh fruit for snacking. It took a while but I don't crave the sugary sweet snacks anymore. I'd rather have fruit than candy. Thank goodness. It wasn't easy to get to this point. I truly believe sugar was my main enemy. I feel so much better without it.

Looks like it might rain but we need it. It was actually sort of cool yesterday evening. Felt really nice outside.

I'm going to go and take a nap in a bit. I'm sure the three furballs will join me. Hopefully they'll give me a little space but I doubt it.

Everyone have a good weekend!

Hi everyone...we're having severe thunderstoms at the moment...one hit in the yard...my pup wasn't the only one to wet himself

Dej, prayers still going out to you and DS (&DH)...it'll be an uphill battle to keep him from slipping back, but I pray he will forge ahead...he'll be better for it.

Barb, one of the most miserable pains to deal with is mouth/tooth pain...hope you feel better soon...

Cleaned up the house a bit...DD26 & SIL decided to come by after their trip to colorado to stay over and then head home with their dog and cat tomorrow afternoon. So I had to clean the bathrooms, vacuum, clean their room, and straighten up the kitchen. Got overheated, of course, and dealt with a bout of double vision as a result. But all better now...

Taking FIL to the eye specialist on Monday for a laser procedure. DH took him after we got home from the cabin and the doc saw some cloudiness in the pocket of his cataract implant. He hopes that this will make his vision a bit clearer.

I read "The Help." It reminded me a bit of my all-time favorite novel, "Their Eyes Were Watching God." Loved the language and the imagery of that book...I chose it for my selection at book club once...the "ladies" in the club made fun of the language and the names...I left the club not long after...

Well, hope everyone has a good Saturday!

Sitting at the computer this morn, I kept smelling ....um...stinky feet! now, where on earth could that be coming from? I searched the room...nothing...it led me to the hallway...and further on down to the DSs room. UGH! WTH??!!! I just did laundry on Friday, so there is only one pair of shorts, one pair of socks and so on in the hamper, but WOOOOO! (wretch!)(gag) I stripped the bedding off his bed, and into the washer. Blanket and all. I emptied his hamper into the same washer. ICK! I asked DH is DS took a shower before he left this morning. He said he asked him, and got some story about how sticky head used to yell at him about the water bill, taking too long in the shower...so he only takes 3 per week. Um...he is working in the hot sun all day in an orchard! He is digging in the dirt, playing in the mud, and ...NO NO NO! this is just unacceptable! So, now we get to have a hygiene discussion tonight. How much damage can one girl keep doing? Why on earth would she restrict him on showers? I mean...come on! Did she want him stinky so other girls wouldnt look at him?

Had a bad dream last night that DH and I went out to do some all day errands and a MD run. We came back much earlier than expected and DS came running out of his room. I heard thumping and bumping back there, and went back to find sticky head in his bed! She gave me some smart bummed comment about how she was in his head, his heart and now back in his bed, and there was nothing I could do about it. UGH!!!! she is haunting my dreams! Even in my dream I dragged her OUTSIDE and told her to SCRAM! SHOO! dont come back here, and then called the cops to tell them someone was trying to break into my house. tee hee. I woke up all sweaty and ticked off.

Man who wants to buy my trailor tried to low ball offer me, and I said no, but counter offered with my firm and final. His wife really loved it, so I think he will come back and buy it. Sad, but not sad. At least someone will get to love her. I went out and did a clearance of the things I want to keep from her. Personalized mugs, and so on. He can have the rest. I also found all the papers that go with her, and tucked them inside. Come on mister! come get this trailor!

Rainy here, my back hurts.

MAPLE LEAF cookies??? I know - you're in Vermont ... so, did you make them or buy them?? I want some, B2Y (cool - can finally use this!!)

nothing new here - the weather has been great!! I've been feeling good, too ... will be 'chick-sitting' for a week - starting on wednesday ... I may not be online until after the 26th ... in the meantime, I'm doing what I can with my laptop - it's finally croaking ... get alot of 'hard drive error' messages ... and if I click on them - it reboots ... so, I leave them on until I'm done online or doing something .. which is a pain ..

I can still get to files when I'm not online - but, it's a pain to go thru the backdoor instead of the desktop icon ... it's all there!! just need to find it! LOL

had a great sewing/quilting class yesterday ...

I'm nixing the library job (for now) ... and signed up to teach at JoAnn Fabrics as a beginning quilting or 'barn quilt' painting instructor ... we'll see!

my office area is organized ... onto the master bedroom which is my supply room ... lots of totes, fabric, stuff, painting and stuff that needs to be in the shed ... but, I need a shed!! :

have a great week - I'll check in when I can ... 's all around!

Hi everybody! No, Vonn, I didn't make the cookies...bought them at the job lots store! We love that place. Also bought a bag of cinnamon-sugar kettle corn. There's always something a little different.

I arrived at church half-soaked this morning. Either my umbrella is too small, or my butt is too big. I guess we know which. My right sleeve and the whole back of my shirt were wringing wet. Oh well!

Today was the Vacation Bible School closing program, a mixed blessing. There's always lots of noise and commotion, loud music, etc. but I love seeing the kids all proud of themselves and getting praise from the pastor and teachers and all.

The other part of the mixed blessing was the reminder of how I loved and miss being in charge of VBS. I don't feel guilty, mind you. I just wish I could still do it. I organized it, planned the music, taught classes, played the piano, planned the games and crafts, wrote the skits...the whole enchilada. And loved every minute of it.

Now we're just chilling, happy to have a day game on. We'll be a lot happier if the Red Sox don't lose!

I remember VBS. It was so much fun. And we had it during the week.....during the morning hours. Not like it is done now.....in the evenings. My Mom was involved with it, too. I remember the Orange Hi-C and Ritz crackers we'd have for snack. And the crafts we'd make. And the songs we'd sing. I was all over that church. Running back and forth from the office to the sanctuary to the classrooms......and was so careful to slow down and walk if I thought an adult was nearby. I remember feeling so safe in that church. It was nearly my second home.
