We dodged the really nasty predicted storms and high winds this afternoon! I think they went south of us and straight to Atlanta! YIKES

I've been busy busy... We had our family Christmas tonight so that we could spend time with our moms over the weekend. While I was cooking this afternoon I kept hearing a meow... now both of our cats died over the last 2 years, so I'm kind of spooked. I had the front wood door open...looked out the storm door and there sat a tiny kitten. It was wet/cold and hungry, but it ran off when I opened the door. Apparently there have been several feral kittens in the neighborhood lately.

I will be off the internet for a few days.. So I wanted to send my holiday wishes to you all.

The whole concept of a feral kitten makes me want to throw up. I KNOW there are little wild things such as bunnies and baby skunks, etc., but kitties aren't supposed to be wild (in my mind, at least). They're supposed to be indoors, chasing catnip mice and sleeping in sunbeams on the carpet.

Two or three inches of snow, the kind that's on the branches and fence and wires. All the "White Christmas" people are happy, and I'm happy I don't have to go anywhere. It's slippery. I've seen a couple of wreckers go by already. I can ALWAYS find a negative.

Expecting my granddaughter and her boyfriend later this morning. He's now really "new", but we haven't met him yet, so he's new to us. He gets rave reviews from my daughter, so we're optimistic!

When she said they'd be here around lunchtime if that was okay, I said "of course!" and nearly had a heart attack when I realized: I don't cook anymore!! I do have some frozen cooked hamburger, so will add pasta and a jar of Newman spaghetti sauce. She will bring some Italian bread for garlic (or not) bread.

Meanwhile we still have the day cats and the night cat. Cooper has been here for three weeks and still won't let us touch him. *sigh* I told my husband that I could go out and get a cat on the STREET to let me touch him in a half hour.

Default Hello: about the kitten

Do you in your heart maybe want this little feral kitten? He may have been trying to adopt you. If you would think about it, I could think of no better holiday gift, to the kitten or you. You can gain its confidence with food, and an outdoor shelter, a box with a towel in it. If you don't want to keep him, you could then take him to the shelter. His or her chances are much better, than being outside all winter alone without food. It could be your good deal of the season. I have done this where I live, and I say it, just when my own cat threw up his breakfast Yuk! Just a thought. ginnie

Good morning, Everyone!

It's so hard to believe that Christmas is just 2 days away! Where did time go? I'm ready for it as we are having a small and simple Christmas this year. No fuss. I like Christmas' like that because we actually spend more quality time together.

DD20 and I still have this project to complete. We're almost done with it and just need a few finishing touches. Hopefully, we'll get them done today.

I hope you all have a wonderful Holiday time.

Georgia had some wicked weather last night. Most of it was in the western north section. I'm in the NE section so we dodged the dangerous stuff. We got heavy rain for hours yesterday, though. Gordon County was hit hard and the weather service is trying to determine if it was a tornado or just straight line winds. I'm sure to the folks it hit that really doesn't matter. There were no deaths so that's something positive.

Tricia, our Christmas is going to be very simple this year, too. There's no way I could handle a BIG celebration. Just going to the grocery store last night wore me completely out.

B2Y, feral kittens break my heart, too. I have four kittens that I've been feeding for the past four-five months. I've had them all fixed. They all live in the barn and show up every morning for breakfast. I'd love to be able to take them all in but seven cats (I already have 3) inside my house is just too overwhelming. They all seem happy and healthy.....have a warm dry place to escape the elements......stick together like a little family........yet I still feel guilty that they're outside. I just hope no more show up! That's the main reason I had these spayed/neutered. They can multiply like rabbits! I'm watching the orange and white male (I named him Snickers) play with some leaves in the back yard right now. He is so cute.

I'm getting worn out again so I guess it's time for a nap. I'll be glad when I can stay up all day without the need for a rest.

Afternoon everyone...

When DH and I were up visiting DD and SIL, she took me to her favorite place-the local Humane Society. She goes there at least once per month to get a "fix"...she loves the kitties and almost adopted another one a couple of months ago, but thought better of it when she perused her finances...

We saw a tiny black kitten that was just brought in...it was about 6 weeks old. We took it to a room and played with it...I took a pic of it & sent it to SIL. DH sent a text back saying "Leave there NOW"...he hates cats...but I know my dog Sonny would love a playmate. He loves DD's cat Kenny, and Kenny loves teasing and playfighting with Sonny. Oh well, when I am old and widowed I can have as many cats as I want

We've decided to have our turkey dinner tomorrow even if no one can come over. We have decided also not to bring his mom and dad over...it's too hard now with his dad's inability to bathroom himself. We'll go over to their place on Christmas day and bring some leftover turkey. They get too exhausted after just a short visit anyway...

Well, I hope all of you have a wonderful holiday...may blessings blanket your lives as the snow has blanketed Colorado...health and good cheer to all my friends at NT!!

And as an aside, do you think we should start a new Daily Insights now that it's officially winter?

A nice visit with my granddaughter (she'll be 22 next month) and her boyfriend. I hadn't met him before, and he's a keeper.

Slippery roads tonight...police over in Burlington are advising people to keep off the roads unless absolutely necessary. Ugh. All those people who are going to assume parties, shopping, dinners, etc. are necessary. There have been LOTS of accidents; the scanner has been chattering away. I hate it when bad weather hits during the holidays.

Good morning, Everyone!

I hope you all had a Merry Christmas! The past few days have been busy and today I am straightening up and cleaning. Just sat down to take a break. I spent yesterday with the dreaded fatigue. I don't know why but all I did was nap on and off yesterday. Poor DDs. But they understood and as DD20 said I had been staying up late doing projects with her and not taking naps. It all hit me yesterday.

Have a great day!

Me, Ginnie! As the oldtimers say, I feel "like I been pulled through a knothole backwards".
