I came across this thread while poking around here on Neurotalk. What a riot! I posted there once and left because I didn't like there attitude. I was told to suck up and deal with the PD when I was asking questions about it. Basically I thought to myself screw you guys, and I'll go elsewhere. I'm glad I did because I found this place.

Anyway they sound like one of the old Monty Python skits with John Cleese and Graham Chapman. John plays a moderator and Graham plays a poster.

Graham: I would like some information on disantripolism (made-up disease).
John: Can't post that, you'll be banned
Graham: Can't post what?
John: That
Graham: What's that?
John picks up a rubber mallet and hits Graham over the head!

Default O M Gawd

I thought it was just me....but I guess not. I had the feeling that all the boards were run by a "certain group"...affectionately known to each other as "spineys"...I have not been banned but I haven't posted much either. I couldn't figure out why there were so many names with "banned" under them. I went back to the earlier postings on this thread and I couldn't believe that I'm not that far off base with HB. After I made the mistake of joining in on one of their conversations, someone posted to me asking me not to "step on HER thread" and that I should start my own. I had to look over my shoulder to see if anyone saw my embarrassment. Well, I guess SHE showed me who was running that thread. My hubby found me this site and he's gonna get a sloppy wet kiss for helping me !

Question I've been reading this

thread with interest.

Is there ANYONE who HASN'T been banned from Healthboards?

I read their FAQs once and it is clear that people like me are not welcome there.
I have read their forums, and many important questions go unanswered. I certainly was not impressed or found it a place for growth/change/improvement.
So I never joined and only read there a few times.

I got the feeling that Doctors run that place...or something similar. And once a person (sorry I forget who) told me it was started by some disgruntled people from the old old days of Braintalk, back when Braintalk was part of Mass General. That there was antipathy there. I don't know if that is true however.

Sounds like HB needs a bit of help themselves. Isn't a forum supposed to be helpful like NT here instead of cutting people up in bits and spitting them back out like what I've read here about HB? I'm glad I found NT and I shall remain here cause it's the #1 best of all

Sometimes I wonder if growth/change and development are for some reason shunned by certain professionals. Perhaps it is counterintuitive.

I haven't, but probably only because I'm not a member. You've made me curious. I think I'll join just to see what happens, or see how long I last.

To try it out, I made up a pseudonym and added to different threads.

I was banned within hours for using my "real name" as a pseudonym. I didn't even last a day ! They also removed everything I had added.

They say I can appeal, and I have, pointing out it wasn't my real name or anything like it ! However, I bet they'll find another spurious reason to ban me.

I'm amazed they have any members left.

I got myself unsuspended and had another go.

I added to seven Threads. I was deliberately mild so that nothing could be objected to.

Banned again ! within an hour ! They also removed everything I had added again.

One woman was not getting any answer to her detailed question about DBS. I merely mentioned that there was a specialist DBS forum. I didn't give the web site. I didn't even name it. Yet they claimed "promoting another forum".

I give up. No matter what I added they would ban me, just as they have banned just about everyone else for the most spurious of reasons.

Their moderator must have really bad emotional problems

I think by now the verdict seems pretty overwhelming that it isnt hard to get banned over there, so just a reminder that we really dont want this thread to be used to encourage members from NT to join other forums just to cause disruption or test their tolerance level. We really wouldnt want others to do that to us either so let's maybe just let them be

thanks
Cheri
