now now Abasaki...you were just yelling cuz you need a rescue..........:D

sooooo

what is everyone doing this weekend?

it is still hot and dry here in Florida....we soooo need some of that rain.
My stream out back no longer has any water in it and so all the birds have started hanging out at the lake instead. I really miss having the water there.

now dont leave me hanging on here too long for a rescue pleeez:Help:

Alffe 05-12-2007 12:28 PM

Like you Cheri...we soooooo are in need of rain. I am watering this grass seed constantly. And scrubbing out a very busy bird bath! :D

Wren 05-12-2007 01:01 PM

Busy birds? You betcha. Our birds are eating NINE oranges a day --- that's if I replace then fast enough. Nine oranges at the current price
And the hungry little orioles are also eating about 1/3 of a jar of grape jelly.

And the rose breasted grosbeaks and others empty all the sun flower seed feeders three times a day.

I have to stop typing and get busy. Guess what I'm going to do :o

Abbie 05-12-2007 04:01 PM

ok... gotta try this again before i lose my indoor voice...
it's been a while since anyone posted and i didn't want to see wren out there flappin those little wings and going nowhere....

hope you got the birdies fed... we used to have little yellow finches, cardinals, and robins around here....but now all i see are big ugly crows!

hope everyone is having a GREAT weekend... and before I forget...
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to ALL of the WONDERFUL MOMS out there!!!

:grouphug: abbie

Jomar 05-12-2007 10:31 PM

Saved ya Abbie!
got a lot of my garden planted- my face feels like it got some sun even thought it was slightly overcast today.
Still thinking on what to do or get mom for mothers day tomorrow.
We might go till their garden for them or one of my boys will.
I usually do a big planter with some heliotrope, impatiens and fushias for their front porch.

Darlene 05-13-2007 12:21 AM

Hello there, everyone.

We had a nice pretty day here in this state of Texas. I wasn't out in it much. Saturday in my lazy day, since I don't have those loving grandkids around. When I was on the phone with our son he told me the kids were giving he and his wife a hard time, especially the oldest (which I don't watch here regulary because she is in school.) LOL

Chemar, I would send the rain if I could, so I will pray for you.

Our son has invited us over to their house, tommorow after church services, but I really don't want to eat there with her family and me BIG family. I so told him we would come over after lunch.

Well I need to get ready for bed so I will be bright for tomorrow. Will be back, hopefully tomorrow night to save some one.

As Abasaki said, Happy Mother's day to all you Moms, Grandmas out there!

Thread Killer

Hi kimmydawn, I've seen posts from you at different places on this site. I'm new here and I have no idea what a thread killer is, could you help me out here. Bigpede

Abbie 05-13-2007 10:52 AM

Hey Bigpede!!! Welcome!!!
I'm not Kimmydawn but I will answer your question...

A thread killer is what many of us feel like when we are the last person to post on any conversation thread and the thread dies... therefore...a thread killer.

I had to send out a rescue to you... didn't want you to think you were a thread killer. Please feel free to jump in, throw a lifeline to anyone, and let us know about you!!!

have a great day!!

abbie

:p I'll take some cake .... Please !!
Speaking of cake.... One of my sisters makes a Pineapple Cake that's just great and oh so easy.
Make a Pillsbury Pineapple cake mix cake in a 9 x 13 pan. (try finding a Pillsbury pineapple cake mix  They're out there but hard to find)
When it's still a bit warm poke lots and lots of holes all over it and dump in a big can of crushed pineapple - juice an all. Let that sog a bi. Cover and put in 'fridge over night if you want. When it's time to serve, smear on a big container of Cool Whip or get fancy and use real whipped cream.

Sounds Yummy AND it sounds like a Lemon/Lime Sheetcake I have made AND sort of like a "PigCake". Which is real easy and named that because you make a real pig of yourself.

PIG CAKE

1 Yellow Cake Mix (disregard instructions on box)
1 cup Oil
4 Eggs
1 small Can Mandrian Oranges (juice included)

Mix all together well, and put in greased and floured pan (9x13) Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes. Topping 1 Large can crushed pineapple, with juice 1 package instant vanilla pudding (disregard instructions on box) 1 9 oz Cool Whip Stir together with spoon until thoroughly mixed. Spread on cake. Keep refrigerated.

I KNOW what your talking about. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night with Terrible FEAR. I have all these Morbid thoughts and I am just terrified. I don't just lay there in the dark, I get up, make myself a nice cup of tea and have a little snack. I think in the middle of the night sometimes our blood sugar drops and wakes us up. A snack usually helps alot. Turn on the tv, but that isn't really all that great, or put a movie on, one you like and that gave you a good feeling. I have been watching "The Station Agent" for the past couple days. It's a very soothing and just a Nice movie. Of course you can always get on-line too. An hour on-line usually takes my mind off whatever was scaring me. But just laying there in the dark doesn't really help me. I may be awake at those times an hour and a half to 3 hours. Just don't Freak out on yourself. A few more hours of sleep will come and wipe away all those fears and a couple Tylenol and a heating pad on whatever hurts.

I wish I could say "AHA I've found the problem" for your condition, I can't but I have for mine, it took some time but I found it. I'd like to invite all of you ladies to read through Dogtorj's website, there is a lot of info there, I just recently found the remedy for my condition which isn't included in his information, its fructose malabsorption, which fits in to what he's saying, I passed on the information to him, but he's real busy right now. Give it a look you might find something useful. :winky:

OK, I HOPE this isn't the "Thread Killer". http://www.sheknows.com/graphics/emoticons/rolling.gif

I want to talk about FLOURLESS CHOCOLATE CAKES!! http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...t/viking37.gif

I have 2 recipes that I have to find before I can continue BUT have any of you ever had one?? The one I make most often is chocolatey but very light. I specially bought a 7 inch springform pan for this cake, perfect size for the amount made. If using a regular size you may need to triple the recipe. There IS another one that uses heavy cream but I'll have to find that one. I'll be back. ;) http://forums.govteen.com/images/smilies/eekout.gif

OK, here is the LIGHT one: http://www.rp-l.com/show/gourmetimag...urlesscake.jpg http://www.truckingboards.com/trucki...lies/shock.gif I know, looks really rich and heavy but it's not. Here's how you make it. I wish I had a better picture to show you the consistency of it but I don't:

8 oz. bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
6 Tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into pieces + extra to butter the pan
6 large eggs, separated
1/2 cup sugar

Heavy whipping cream for topping
PREPARATION:

Preheat oven to 275°F and place rack in the center of the oven. Butter a 9-inch springflorm pan.

1. Place the chopped chocolate and butter in a large, microwave safe bowl and microwave on high in 30-second increments.
Stir after each increment, continuing until the chocolate is completely melted. Allow to cool slightly, then whisk in the egg yolks.

2. Place the whites in a clean bowl and beat to soft peaks. Gradually add the sugar, beating until stiff and glossy.

3. Whisk 1/4 of the whites into the chocolate mixture to lighten it.

4. Using a rubber spatula, gently fold the chocolate into the rest of the whites.

5. Pour it into the prepared pan and smooth the top.

6. Bake 40 to 50 minutes. The cake will have pulled away from the side of the pan and will be just set in the center.

7. Allow to cool.

To serve:
Dust the top of the cake with confectioners' sugar and serve.

Just think of it as a diet cake. I won't tell anyone. :o :p

Wiix 05-15-2007 02:11 PM

I don't know about that. Chocolate and alcohol?? About the ONLY chocolate alcoholic drink I ever tried and LOVED was Kahlua and cream. Oh wait, now that I think on this a bit, there is another one, Bailey's?? Irish Cream?? I never drink now so that may not be correct. Oh and I used to make this Unbelievable coconut, toasted, Kahlua Ice Cream. I made it in an ice cream churn but I think you Can make it without one, just in a bowl, then pack it and stick it in the freezer. When it's hard THEN you take it out, sprinkle shedded coconut on top and few drips of Kahlua then torch it. :D Now THAT reminds me of Baked Alaska or was it a Raspberry Bomb I'm thinking of??

I'll go see if I can find any pictures of all this Madness.
