my car has a flashing light to let me know that i have no one sitting in the front passenger seat. it turns the airbag off. it "knows" because of weight.
so simple to put the same kind of thing in a car seat. here in texas...we have had many kids left in cars to die. i might be a minority, i know the parents suffer, but i do think thye need to be prosecuted to the fullest.
