go into add or remove programs.

check there to see what adobe has loaded.

i also have made sure my firewall blocks it. i only open it if i need it. it's not on my start up menu.

it's worht trying to find out. also check other programs that have done auto updates.

Red face the neverending story :(

Well, we are beginning to see that the new computer my husband brought home on Thursday, is the culprit.

His old Compaq ran okay on this router. (he does not remember if he installed the software on it )

His units are mega mondo extremely encrypted...Gov't issue. As soon as he
plugged in this morning, I went down. So he brought it in this room and plugged it right into the router... DOWN again.

We did not expect this. And he doesn't know if he can load the router software into his unit until he talks to his help desk. He has to have it for his email. He cannot access email thru this machine.. mega mondo encrypted.
He cannot send his online work to his boss either...mega mondo encrypted.

And I checked and there is only one Adobe on here. #7. It was the #8 upgrade that crashed me all the time. #7 only stalls every once in a while My husband says his techie told him he could install Adobe #8 on his new HP, but it takes 11 hours! And now we know why it crashed on Fri, since DSL didn't like it. If the encryption on his unit is blocking the DSL I don't know what he will do?

mrsd...is his computer made by sony? you don't have to answer...but if it is..any part of it...att&t has a compatabilty problem. there are fixes for it, but the yahoo type of software that att&t uses will cause fatal errors and eventually fry it.

we can take this to pm if you want.

oh.....att&t has new upgraded routers. if that is the problem, they should give you a new one. i have the model numbers for the old and the new.

dang..i'm sorry this is all happening.

If his computer was sent for home use seems like they would have set it up for him.
Sounds like the encryption/firewall is a heavy duty one and needs to be tweaked by pros.
Or separate DSL lines??
But it sounds like he needs to talk with the help desk due to the security issues.

Unhappy better not be separate....

you know they sent Federal employees home after the Oklahoma bombing to work for security.
Since many don't have secretaries anymore, they got them laptops, and said
do a home office. Well, in addition, they do NOT allow them to deduct expenses for the home office either. We have to pay for the separate phone line, the fax, and other expenses.

If he has to get a dedicated line for this, I will be soooooo mad! We will have to foot that bill too. The new computer is a HP...state of the art. 80 gig, 2 gig RAM, it is nice.
But they won't let him use a screensaver other than Windows, and he is not supposed to even have a personal "wallpaper" (but his old one came over during the drive transposition on Thurs. He has some obscure new program for reporting, and it is failing too. (everyone's is acting up tho).
There are so many rules ... they absolutely just GAG you!
He has a wifi... but it is deactivated and they won't let him use it in public...because of security risks. blah blah ...
He has already been downtown 3 days this week...with this conversion. I guess it is not over yet!

And oh, they didn't give him a new printer cord...and the old one doesn't fit, of course, so he can't print either.

But on the nice side he got a new carryall bag on wheels, docking stations, keyboard and mouse if you don't like
the laptop keyboard. (shrugs shoulders)

Red face network problem.

As long as my husband is the ONLY computer on the DSL line, it works.
The minute I boot up this one.....crash. His new unit is definitely a HOG.

So he is taking it downtown tomorrow to the computer department and getting a printer cable and having the settings looked at. They may have to reinstall his
Gov't browser....to accept network settings. It is interesting that even if the cable is plugged into his, and his computer is OFF, it still crashes me.
So we don't understand that at all!

It is very frustrating, however.
