Hi everyone!
Been struggling with a cold, crud, or whatever for the last few days. Feel like my head is the size of a basketball :) Stayed home today and laid around home, took meds and slept. Hopefully tomorrow is better!!

DD18 has a 3-day swim meet this weekend. Will be her last swim club meet; has been swimming competetively since she was the age of 9.

She has not entered many meets the past couple of years. Due to back problems, teenage growing patterns/hormones, etc., she peaked athletically as a freshman, and has not been able to attain personal best times for about 3 years.

However, she swam faster today than she has for quite some time, and felt good about how she ended her club swimming "career". She swam that fastest times that her current coach has ever observed her swim; she felt good about that, too.

She plans to swim on the high school team for the spring season, and will likely not swim competetively after that is over.

On the one hand, it feels kind of like the end of an era, and somewhat sad, but, on the other hand, it is also a relief that we will no longer be putting time and $ into her swimming.

Today, as we often do, we brought out own bag chairs to the meet. My MS makes me less and less able to navigate bleachers, so it was nice that we were able to find an empty spot on the floor to put our chairs.

Several years ago, she had thought that she would probably like to swim in college, but she has now ruled that out. I expect, though, that she will continue to enjoy swimming laps to keep fit.

I understand, Faith.

my daughter had to quit the swim team as a sophmore, as her "developments" (as she termed them) were, er, um, slowing her down.

and my son was on the diving team, but had to bail, as he kept getting Otitis Externa (outer ear infections)

so, I know what you mean about the end of an era.

Kathy, I hope you feel better soon... I've got a sinus infection that's draggin' me down.

NaeNae, LOL! you don't have to talk, just blow us kisses from time to time! and keep us posted, okay?

Von, pass me a frosty mug of A & W, pretty please... I haven't had any in AEONS!

AMN: such a thrill!

Sarah, when my arm was doing that one, I swear, I stuck it in the FREEZER for a moment, to see it that would make it behave!

:D  :D

It was mine too but instead I had more important things to do like listen to my Mom and how worried she is over the bills and her surgery. After tears and a few "Mom, stop it!" things settled down.

She then recited to me the Amityville Horror movie verbatim.

Think she's trying to tell me something?

I hope everyone starts to feel better! Seems a bug (no, not one of Kay's) is going around trying to take over.

Jim and I have been blessed to miss out on it. Whew!

no bugs here .. but, my roof sprang a leak (around the fan thingie that doesn't work) ... but I fixed it with duct tape and wax paper ... it's suppose to get OVER 32 tomorrow ... heat wave, we're having a heat wave ..

cleaning and making room to clear out of the storage unit ...

anyone have $20g laying around??? I could get a spanking-new tincondo with wide door entries, slab, skirting and setup .... my monthly payments would be under $150/month - and would have better electricity efficiency with a new refrigerator (and w/d) ... make then take my new furnace ... and then put up a ramp ... by the way - does anyone know how to ask for a new trailer from the county??

uh, I have bad days of walking ... and can't keep holding this place up on duct-tape alone ... LOL

Von, it may just be the snow melting. I had that happen in the attic. It somehow melted and ran down. Check the roof before you think it's a leak. Just look! Don't climb up there! :D

not planning to climb the roof .. I think that the 'caulking' is cracked after the heating dudes were up there setting up the furnace (which is in the closet space next to the bathroom) ... I'm cool with it ...

thanks ... I was thinking about getting the ladder ... then had another thought and forgot about the ladder!
