yeah, that was my greatest fear too... and it got really bad with the constant rolling blackouts in California in 2000 and 2001. so, I froze ziplock bags of water, and half-gallon (OJ - the kind with screw-caps!) bottles for emergencies. ya gotta have lots of towels on hand if you use that tip though, lol !! and I bought some of those gel headbands and kerchiefs that freeze, and a portable battery-powered FAN too !! http://www.safetycentral.com/coboxpobaopr.html we also had big pieces of cardboard that we put in the windows on the sunny side of the house, to keep the house from heating up here's some other tricks for when A/C croaks in a power outage: http://www.associatedcontent.com/art...wer.html?cat=5 PS: my son is named Matt too, lol !! |
Thanks for the websites, Kay! I looked at them and there's some good stuff. I think I'm going to order one of those personal air conditioners. And stock up on batteries, too! I always forget about those and then never have them (or the right size) when I need them.
I think I'll start buying a pack each time I go to the store - that way it won't be such a hit all at once. I feel like such a spoiled wimp worrying about the A/C going out but the heat just affects me so horribly that I'd probably have to go to a motel or something until it came back on. :( :o |
Good morning all. :) Having a bit of a cog fog morning. :( I enjoyed everyone's posts, but things are getting a little confusing on who did what.
Ugh! The past two days have been symptom weird for me. I even had to take a cold shower yesterday to get one to go away. Oh well, at least I have my normal MRI check is coming up next week anyways. LOL, the regular nurse called up and said "guess what time of year it is?" :D She's a great gal and was on vacation when I got the "yadda, yadda" speech from the office. Since my neuro is MRI happy anyways when things change, I'll wait for the results. :grouphug: Have a great day all. |

Barb is having a great time I hope Vonn I hope your are doing well today As I also wish for everyone, a good day:Tip-Hat: i shall return:Poke: |
Hey everyone! Jim is still having muscle tightness but we're hoping the Tizantidine kicks in and starts to do it's job. Other than that he's doing OK. The UTI, is there one? Who knows? We're ignoring things for now and hoping we were over protective. Of course if a fever starts I'll be commando in gear again. lol
Going to do some laundry and the checkbook today. Nik is moving some of his stuff in today. He moves back to school tomorrow. Chris, next week. :( |
hey all .. I'm here!!
reading all about-chas!! doing okay ... did I tell you that the State cashed my check for incorporating the quilt program?? .... and I'm going to 'work' as a volunteer for the company ... do all the business-end of it ... looking into website design to bring it to the world ... oh... I do have a pix of the lakeview from inside my apartment ... will post it shortly. |
Vonn, cool beans!!! Glad to hear that things are going well. Can't wait to see apartment pics.
Frank, Sorry to hear your so frustrated. Seems to be part and parcel of this stuff. Sandy, crossing fingers that the med kicks in for Jim soon. ~~~~~ My local art store is having an art show this weekend. They said they were still taking entrants, so I'm going to run down there in a little while to see what it's all about. Don't know if I ever would have thought of this without you guys and my family. :grouphug: |
another clue my mother could care less about my MS....someone sent her a spam email about writing the House of Representatives about funding for MS research and she said,"who sent me this MS shi*,I don't know this person I'm just deleting it!" Then "Did you give my email to some MS related crap?"
|
cool Fin, good luck on that.
vonn also cant wait to see pics sandy i hope the higher dose does the trick, and help ease Jims pains renee sorry wish I knew what to say, she sure is biased against MS, is she stuck in some huge denial thing? |
Renee, I am so sorry. I cannot believe the way your mother acts about your ms. She must be in denial or something. Hurry up and get a place for yourself girl.
