one of the chickies that hatched 8 weeks ago roused my heinie this morning with his FIRST attempt at greeting the dawn, ROOSTER-style!

as for the coffee, found a NEW grinder yesterday... so, fresh-ground Guatemalan beans just went into my drip coffeemaker, after a WEEK's abstinence!

today was the BIG day for the most recent batch of ducklings...

the gate on their safety pen was opened to the big wide world, and they made their first ventures out into the "general population" at 7 am.

brave little duckies... first they followed the "Salad Lady" (that'd be me, trailing greens galore) all the way to the guinea hutch, exploring everything along the way, then... they got REALLY courageous, and trooping after Mama Buffy and Mama Choco, the nine babies checked out our pond...

wheeeeeeee!!!

oh, and I couldn't find a photo of my rooster Halloween, so I tracked him down, and he graciously posed for my camera:

Had fun with our friend who came over, and we've made plans to have a Daytona 500 party next weekend. Yep - we're NASCAR fans, and our boy won the bud shootout tonight. :winner_first_h4h:

Some year, since it's always around my birthday, I will go to Daytona for the race. :D

yes, my sweet little Mocha's still missing... and I sure miss her a lot... even though I have her seven offspring to console me, and three of them look a lot like her... but none of them try to climb in my lap, or nibble whole corn from my hand.

well, having a NAME for it all doesn't help much in reality... just gives us a term to hang our hats on (so to speak) 'cause they're still *there* anyway.

I really understand though, as I waited five years to put a "name" on what my body was going through.

when my SSDI kicks in - I'm going to look into some advocacy from our state and local governments and see 'what the heck is the problem??' let those in prison deal with it! those that didn't ASK for a disease needs support ... and shouldn't be penalized for having a brain just because the body doesn't cooperate!
