Re: The wealthy politicians.

It is interesting to note that the founding fathers of our nation thought that the "ordinary" people were too ignorant to be able to vote. I think that is why we are a democratic republic rather than a democracy.

The electoral college was created so that the smaller states would count as much as the states with a larger population.

This is how GW Bush won the presidency rather than Gore who had the majority of votes. I believe the Supreme Court decided in GW's favor based on this interpretation of the Constitution.

No way Huckabee was going to back out. Youngest dd went to Iowa to work for a candidate during the caucuses (won't say who). Romney went on the attack simultaneously on Huckabee (Iowa) and McCain (NEw Hampshire) because his lead was slipping. IMHO Huckabee and McCain made a deal to combine forces to stop Romney. The strategy stuck. Huckabee was not going to drop as long as Romney was in if for no other reason than to split the conservative vote. They wanted him stopped at all cost for his strategy in the two early states.

My prediction: Huckabee will drop out in the not too distant future and be McCain's VP candidate. We'll see.

Re: MS, Hillary Clinton received some type of award -- not sure when but I believe it was from the NMSS. Does anyone know what it was for?

Each year, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society recognizes elected officials that have supported the Society, its chapters, and its policy issues. The U.S. Representative of the Year, U.S. Senator of the Year, and Governor of the Year are honored at the Society’s annual MS Public Policy Conference in Washington D.C. Thank you and congratulations to all the previous winners of this award. http://www.nationalmssociety.org/doc...sgovernors.pdf

Yes, Ms. Clinton was a recipient of this award in 2002.

From what I understand, Romney really had no choice but to drop out if he wanted to save face. In order to get enough delegates to beat McCain and win the nomination, he would have had to win every state from here on out. Like that's gonna happen.
As far as the Kennedy support of Obama, I'm wondering if that won't do him more harm than good. While Pres Kennedy is held in such high esteem (no matter what the facts were), Ted Kennedy has a reputation for being such an extreme liberal he's almost a characature (look up "liberal" in the dictionary and there'e Ted's pic)..There's been such division in this country around words like "conservative" and "liberal", it'll be interesting to see how that plays out.
At any rate, this is the most entertaining election season I can recall..I was only a child during the 1968 election, so only remember a litte about it..But this one seems to be ranking right up there!

If you saw how W.VA went McCain and Romney with no clear favorite, so the poison pill, McCain supporters went with Huckabee because they figured in the end better to face him than Romney. Don`t let Romney get momentum and more funding with a lead. That was the first sign he wasn`t for long in the race.

Interesting games they play, endorsements don`t mean much to me, a Kennedy`s even less. LOL Chuck Norris? McCain might break out Godzilla! They are near the same age?

A huge difference between what is good for a politician and what is good for the country.

GIGI69 02-08-2008 09:48 PM

McCain has Rambo. That trumpt godzilla dont ya think?

Bearygood 02-08-2008 09:56 PM

I can safely say that I have not been influenced by one endorsement. I actually didn't even think about this until now.

Re: the Kennedy clan's endorsement of Obama, it just amused me. Saw it coming a mile away.

TheSleeper 02-08-2008 11:38 PM

LOL McCain has Rambo? Missed that! No need for a primary, let Chuck Norris and Sly settle it!
