i have been using steam cleaners for 9 years, we use them in our gym too. combine that with micro fiber towels..you have sparkling clean..germ free everything. i have 2 commercial grade ones by euro pro. lots of fun attachments.
on wood floors, be sure to not leave it in any area for very long. you can ruin the finish. just glide across. i think the one you are getting is just for floors. when you get hooked..i bet you will get a small hand held. it's worth it. you save so much in cleaning products.

I just ordered it online from Linens "N Things and opted for the store pickup so I will go later this afternoon to get it! I can't wait to try it out on my hardwood floors!

I have been debating a steam cleaner but hubby did not think it was for real and would really clean well. Think I will try again.

I have a Shark steam cleaner and love it. Mine is not only for floors but everything else too. I use it on everywhere. It makes cleaning the microwave and refrigerator so easy. I do windows with it.
It is at DBF's rental as we have been using it there to clean up. I miss having it at home. The downfall is that mine is the portable kind that you put on your shoulder. It doesn't work well when you balance is off. LOL. (You can set it down which is what I do). They have a new one on wheels that I have been thinking of buying and letting DBF keep the other one. Cloudz - Prepaid is a great option for an occasional user. I have been using Alltel for years on a prepaid service as they had the best deal AND your minutes don't expire after 90 days like some plans. I just now switched to a "plan" but since I have been with Alltel for so long I did not have to sign a contract. |

I wish I could find a hand held steamer THAT ACTUALLY WORKED!!!
I just threw mine out. I had it for over 5 years. I think it was called "My little Steamer", I really can't remember the exact name of it. You fill it with water, wait a certain amount of time, then you bring it over (it had a long long cord), and it was supposed to get in the grout, get in the oven, well it was supposed to STEAM CLEAN anywhere the steam went. The only trouble is IT DIDN'T STEAM FOR MORE THAN TWO MINUTES. I kept pressing the button thingee but no steam came out. I tried this numerous times, but then kept it in the closet. I had all kinds of attachments. Never worked right. Can anyone recommend a good little hand held steamer. When they work, they WORK GREAT!!! The thing is to find one that WORKS!!!! lol

I have a very small hand held steamer
that I use to clean windows, dry clean garments, shower, stains out of rugs, etc ... while it's small, it doesn't hold much water. It's a mini-Steam Zapper. I also bought 2 more - one for my mom and sister - 5 years ago; as Christmas gifts and they adore it and have used it, my sister uses it more than both of use and it saves her a lot of time with the ironing. I DO have a Hoover Steam Vacuum, with 5 power brushes - and it's 4-5 years old now (and my mom, sister, and some neighbors/friends have borrowed it). While it is EXPENSIVE piece of equipment, I'm allergic to dust - I use it twice a year and it also cleans upholstery and drapery (but I don't have any drapery except for the dry clean ones in my bedroom which I use the steamer for that one) .. I found out that the hand head attachments will clean the vertical blinds with it! COOL! Is it worth the money? ABSOLUTELY! If you're allergic to dust, dander, etc - it's worth it and will pay for itself. But always remember to vacuum thoroughly first before and if necessary: I usually use a little ammonia and Mr. Clean or Spic and Span and a scrub brush to clean some tough stains off if any. Then run the Steam Vac. I've thought about buying the Steam Shark, but this mini-Steam Zapper does just fine. I recommend it - it saves you $$$$ on having to buy CHEMICALS and you get to save the environment!
