Default Question about bra size!!

Now don't laugh. I'm dead serious here.

I want someone to explain to me, how, after losing 100 plus pounds, over the course of 10 or so years, I only went down 1 BRA SIZE!!!

At my heaviest, I wore a size 24 and a half dress. And 44C bra. ALWAYS. I never wore a bigger size in my life. Even at my heaviest.

I was in my 30s. I worked, and I had to buy all new clothes. I wasn't that busty, but I was a BIG WOMAN.

So fast forward to now, I have never measured myself but I figured I was about a 40 C. I went online and bought a good bra. Cost me $20. It was beautiful. I got the 40C. Fit nicely. The C cup was just fine.

Now there are 40C's and there are 42C's and I know that when you buy a good bra, that you get what you pay for. I understand this.

I have watched the Oprah Show and she once had a show that indicated that we are all walking around with the wrong size bra. I believe her.

I have the one good bra that's a 40C.

And every other bra in my drawer (and they all fit), are 42C's.

And how come some of the C's look like D's.

My bust got smaller, this I know. I am not FULL. I barely make it into a C.

But with the good bra, it fit just perfectly.

With the $3.99 bra's well, the C's look like D's.

Today, I brought a bra at the local department store. Cost me $3.99. I needed one of those fiberfill bras. They make you look like you have breasts even if you don't have breasts.

So the cups looked a big bigger than I usually get.

I take the bra home. Oh, it's a 42 C by the way.

The bra fit perfectly. The cups didn't. They were big. But it doesn't matter. I'll put a tank top and I'll look line Pamela Anderson when I wear this bra.

I said "holy cow, I have breasts". It really is a nice bra.

Tomorrow I'm going back to see if this bra comes in a 42B.

So someone please explain why some C's fit nicely, And why some C's look like cannons.

And more important. HOW THE HECK CAN I GO DOWN ONE SIZE AFTER LOSING OVER 100 LBS.

One would think I would have gone from a 44C to a 38 or a 36.

I do not get this at all.

Oh, and you'll love this. I put on one of my bras this morning, and a tank top and all I saw were, well, you know what was peeking through the tank top.
I couldn't wear it. I know that there is an item called PETALS, that solves this problems.

So I walk into the bra store near my home and I was all prepared to ask the lady behind the counter if she sold Petals.

Well, there was a GUY behind the counter. I was sputtering and he's going "may I help you, may I help you?""

I'm just looking at him, and I go. "uh, well, I have a bra and it shows through my tank top, and ugh....." and he shouts out loud "oh, you want nipple covers". I almost died!!!

I just followed him and he's throwing all these nipple covers in front of me.

I just thew down $3.00 and grabbed a packet.

Now don't all of you fall down laughing. This actually happened to me today.

I'm just waiting for Alan to see the packet on the kitchen table. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE HIS FACE WHEN HE SEES WHAT THESE THINGS ARE.

lol

Well, I didn't quite fall down laughing but . . .

A good bra is worth the price. DDs and I have had similar discussion about bras and sizes. DD18 cannot figure out why she is a bigger cup size than DD16 who looks bigger. I finally told her to go to the Playtex website and that have a whole section on bra sizes and correct fits.

You may have lost weight but your rib cage may now be a 40 and not a 42. I am not sure if there is a JC Penney's close by but they are great about measuring to a perfect fit.

I have also found that some bras are only made for women whose ____ are closer together. In fact a lot of them seem to be that way. I am not build that way and have a little more space there. Let me tell you, underwires hurt when they cut in.

I hate undewires, but the one I bought on the internet, well that was a BEAUTIFUL FITTING BRA. It fit in all the right places.

Not anything like the $3.99 bras I buy.

But really, when you lose 100 lbs, SOME PART OF YOUR BODY SHOULD GET SMALLER, no??

I cannot believe I went from a size 24 1/2 dress to a size 12-14, and only one bra size.

I just don't get it.

Oh, by the way, Alan found the packet on the kitchen table.

He said: "Why is there a photo of a woman with these things on her breasts?" You should have seen the expression on his face when I explained what THESE THINGS WERE!!!!

I laughed my head off.

If you have excess skin due to weight loss that might be a reason you're still requiring the same size.

Hi Melody! I lost 60 pounds ....a few years ago. It is back now! When I lost the weight I lost very little of my bust...I was a 42F...some DDD's fit me as well. After losing the weight I wore a 38 DDD...lost almost nothing in the cup! It came off in my back though. Now that the weight is back I am in a 40 DD!!!!!!!!! Sounds weird but is easily explained...I had a breast reduction 2 years ago!!
Best thing I ever did!!!!! It is funny though....my weight has been up and down but the cup still stays the same!!

Petals... I will never look at your flower the same!

I don't have your full figure girl on top problem. (dang it!)

I am one of those people that when I do lose weight, guess where the first place it goes? That's right. The top. Like I have anything there to start with.

I've always had trouble finding the right size. I was an early bloomer...way early lol I wore a 38C in the 7th grade!

I went one time to a really nice boutique and was fitted for one...hated having someone I didn't know push and pull!

Guess I should be happy that I have naturally what some women pay good money for!

Me, too, Suzy. But....if I could go down a size or two I would do it (no surgery, though!!). It's really not all it's cracked up to be.

Well, I have no loose skin (from the waist up). Because I was always bottom heavy, my thighs are where, well, let's say that's why I wear Spanx. They hold you in real good.

From the waist up, I look perfectly fine. I did lose breast tissue with the weight loss (but not as much as when I lost 85 lbs when I was 24 years old), I was flatter than a pancake. I believe I was a 38 B at the age of 24. But then the weight came back. But now that it's taken me 10 years to lose all this weight, I really did think that I would be back to the 38B. I look like a 38 B.

When I was sitting on my friend's porch, on the way back from buying this bra, I pulled it out, and they all said: 'Melody, that won't fit you, it's too big, it's too big around, and it's too big in the cup".

Well, they were right about cup but they were wrong about it fitting me all the way around.

I guess I'm destined to be one of those people who are big boned. Dense Bones. Whatever.

And the kicker is I just looked at the packaging on the bra I just bought.

It's a plus size bra. I haven't worn any plus sizes since I lost my weight.

Kind of a thorn in my head if you get my drift.

So now I am determined. Let's see how much water I can drink today.

Yesterday, it was 98 outside. I cannot tell you what I drank. Holy cow. It was like my body was in the desert.

Today I shall try my PETALS.

Never worn them in my life.

This should be interesting.

I have a bra, well, would not call it my comfortable bra, but DH and I call it my magic bra. I'm fine on top, not real big, but fine. When wearing V-necks, this bra makes you go "What!". Bought a bra for DD, went back and got 2 more. It's a good one. I hate when I have to go bra-shopping, some fit me, some don't, in all the same size. Jeans too.
