I ditto what frank (wegot5kiz) said : never go to bed mad at each other...
Someone ( I*think* it was our pastor or my mom) told me and my dh this shortly before got married and I believe its probably the best marriage advice I've ever been given....

One of my others-- and this is not so much advice, but rather something I try to keep in mind while shopping : if I *think* I want to buy something (anything from clothes to shoes to snacks, dinner out, etc and other non necessities) but am even a little unsure, I tell myself that if I still want it in 24 hours, I can always go back and get it (if I can afford it)..... Seems to work almost everytime for me

From my mother I received two phrases of wisdom:

1. Don't wear torn underwear because in case you get hit by a bus, everybody will see the safety pins in your underwear !!!!!!(She actually said this).

2. Speak because you have SOMETHING TO SAY....not because you have to SAY SOMETHING. (I loved that one).

And my personal favorite from Oprah.

"After you are gone, people won't remember how you looked, only HOW YOU MADE THEM FEEL".

I try to apply this thought process every day in my dealings with others. Thankfully, I live in a great neighborhood with very friendly people who ask about us, ask about Alan, we sit outside EVERY NIGHT. They bring over their babies, (last night an old friend came by with an IPHONE, and I was absolutely amazed. We saw Alan on youtube (on the IPHONE), and there was my video on Alan's C.R.O.W. boot). Just imagine 6 people watching Alan's video over an IPHONE, and going : "ooooh, and ahhh".

Being friendly to anybody most certainly trumphs being nasty, know-it-all and being the kind of person who gives unsolicited advice.

Greet everybody with a smile. You never know what might happen.

As a worrier I always felt better after reading the saying in the Bible that says - Fret not about tomorrow for tomorrow will take care of itself...I don't know the exact phrasing but it helps me.

My Dad - You're smart you can do anything you put your mind to. He's gone now but not forgotten.
