Earl - Have you looked into the leasing option for the solar panels? I have always watched "Living with Ed" about Ed Begley, Jr. and he always shows really cool ways to be environmentally conscious.
They did a show that profiled this option. I once saw how Ed Begley lives. This LIVES Green. I mean, he does composting and everything.
And he rides a bike everywhere. Lots of GREEN going on in his house!!!

So far that's the snag. Where there is good wind, there are too many birds. And it's unlikely any power company could spend that kind of money - or have room for, even - for solar panels for each customer.
