I'm still thinking about this and keep wondering if she's a phone sex hooker. A couple friends of mine did it during college, they'd study while every now and then they'd ooo aaaaah or something.

They made pretty darned good money at it too. One of them did it on her rowing machine to kill two birds with one stone, she'd don her gymclothes and her headset, and LOL, it made her breathe heavily!:ROTFLMAO: :ROTFLMAO: :ROTFLMAO: :ROTFLMAO:

Wiix 06-18-2008 11:04 AM

This thread seems to be tiptoeing around some Provactive issues, isn't it?? http://www.spearboard.com/rofl.gif

Yes, during the times she had Male visitors the screaming WAS more frequent and Louder eventhough to distinguish the Decibles, I'd need a meter. http://www.lipstickalley.com/images/...cons/laugh.gif

MelodyL 06-18-2008 06:45 PM

Wiix:

About how many times a day does she scream? Does she go AAAAARRRHH?? Or does she go; "ooooooohh", (I'm just curious).

And are the screams always the same length? I mean, does she do a: OOOOOOOH and then ten minutes later, she does a: OOOH??

See what I mean?

Are all the screams identical??

Now I have no idea if any of this means ANYTHING, I'm just being nosy!!! lol

I wish I could HEAR the way you are screaming. I just can't tell from words like that. The best way I can describe it is a BANSHEE Scream or a Like someone is getting Murdered.

She is now ****** and is in the "I'll show YOU " Mode over there. Her music is BLASTING and today she ran out of her apt when I went to my car and just stood in front of me GLARING at me. She didn't SAY anything, she just wanted me to SEE she is ******. I really don't care if she is or not. You DON'T move into a new place, do things to disturb the people around you THEN when someone TELLS the LL about it, you just continue doing it OR step it up to show everyone that YOU can do whatever you want no matter how much it bothers your neighbors.

These are people with "ATTITUDES". Like everyone OWES them something and they are ABOVE the Rules that everyone else has to live by. I have seen this DOZENS of times before and it's ONLY been people of a certain ******. YOU can fill in the letters.

MelodyL 06-18-2008 09:21 PM

She is VERY lucky she doesn't live next door to my son. I can't tell you how many people he has had evicted, called the cops on, or just plain threatened. My son HATES noisy neighbors. He once used the foghorn on one of his neighbors. She was in her 60's and mentally ill. He just couldn't take it any more. She played music SO LOUD.

Want to know what he actually did once. He got a hold of dozens of foam egg crates, and he tried to sound proof his walls where he lived. They DO sell noise reduction plasterboard, or something like that in those big home improvement stores like Lowes or Home Depot. You may want to invest in that.

God knows what I would do if I had that living next to me. You are one tough brave cookie. I know me. I couldn't take it. I HATE NOISE.

I really do hope you find a way (without killing anyone) to get her to stop.

She really does sound disturbed in some way.

Wiix 06-18-2008 09:35 PM

AHHH, I just sifted through a page of Screams so NOW you can hear some of what I'm hearing. AND it is going on right now as I type. Just click on Scream# and it will play:

Scream1

Scream2 This one is closest!

Scream3

Scream4 This one too.

Scream5

Scream6 Relatively close.

Scream7

Scream8 Not too far off.

Abbie 06-18-2008 09:46 PM

Oh my... I just listened to the screams you posted....

If I heard my neighbor scream anything like those... I would be calling 911. I would just say... My neighbor is screaming like she is being injured or beaten....I'm not going to go check on her. For my safety and hers...could you please send an officer to check on her.

I would think she would get the hint to quit after the police show up at her door a couple of times.

Abbie

MelodyL 06-18-2008 09:52 PM

Have you called the cops? Because if I heard this even one time, they would be called. You are hearing this multiple times?? I believe it's called DISTURBING THE PEACE!!

Get a tape recorder and record her. So you can prove it to the cops.

But then again, she'll know it was you.

My goodness, you do have a dilemma on your hands, don't you??

Wiix 06-18-2008 10:13 PM

Well, yea, I guess. But when you live in an apt building these things happen. BUT at least the owner IS trying to tell her to stop. IF I keep complaining he talk to her again too. God help her if she falls behind on her rent, he'll bounce her out so fast. BUT then again he has told people to stop what they are doing that disturbs their neighbors and they don't stop and he just kicks them out after a while. She won't be here long since I told him about her little " Hooker" Days.

So, did you like the screaming?? :p A couple of them were right on. Except here it's MUCH louder. I really hate it when one of them wakes me out of a dead sleep. I have so much trouble sleeping, both getting to sleep and Staying asleep, this screaming is like torture to me. To be woken up for NO good reason is Very frustrating. Plus the fact my heart almost jumps out of my chest and it takes a while to slow down. :(

I honestly think this is WHY she had to move out of her last place. I asked her why she moved and all she said was the place was getting shabby. Not much of an answer, not to me anyway.

MelodyL 06-19-2008 07:47 AM

Well, I can solve the no sleeping problem. Every night before I go to bed, I use ear plugs. And I do not use those foamy things. They don't do ANYTHING.

The one's I get are from the local drug store. They are made of silicone I believe. They are moldable. They are round little disks. I take one and one half of another one. I then separate the first one just a it and take what's left over and stick it on the second one. That makes two perfect ear plugs. I guess I could use two whole ones, but that's too big.

When I'm ready to hit the hay I just roll each ear plug into a cone and put it into my ear, and flatten it against my ear. Believe me, you don't ear ANYTHING.

I need to do this because Alan comes in to bed much later than I do, and when he unstraps the velcro stuff on his CROW boot, well, the sound of ripping velcro would wake me up. But with the ear plugs, lightening could be happening outside and I wouldn't hear it.

Now some people don't like pushing stuff into their ears. This is not something sharp. Nor does it get lodged inside the ear. I roll it into a cone and push it in ever so slightly and then I press the outside so it forms a seal.

I'll probably do this the rest of my life because it seals out all noise (I wouldn't recommend this for anyone with children), but if you need a good night's sleep, this is the way to go.

They are cheap, they seal out noise, and believe me, I go to bed between 11:15 and 11:30 p.m. and I sleep STRAIGHT THROUGH THE NIGHT.

No birds chirping, no people in the backyard waking me up.

For me, it worked like a charm.

Just wanted to assure you that you don't have to be up all night.

I just read this entire thread Wiix. I would be absolutely INSANE if this were happening to me :(! Here is new tactic for you: Tell your landlord that you will be forced to break your lease and move if something isn't done in the next week or so. Try to get some neighbors to do the same thing! If your LL starts to think that he/she will be losing good tenants maybe that will help. IMHO it does not matter if this illness related or not. You pay to live there, peacefully. Some of us have illnesses, like me, that would make this noise completely intolerable. I can't even stand loud music in a vehicle for ten seconds without wanting to curl up in a corner :D. I pray I never have to live in an apartment. I would be walking around with those noise reducing headphones on all of the time :). Of course you could try that at night but it would be mighty uncomfortable (just kidding) :).

MelodyL 06-19-2008 08:24 AM

I also use noise canceling headphones to watch my tv. The young girls upstairs rev up their stereo and play this belly dance music and while I like to exercise to it, when Alan and I are watching "So You Think You Can Dance", well who wants to hear OTHER music going on??

So we both use headphones, it blocks out everybody else, and we enjoy tv.

I wish I owned my own house out in the woods (like many of my friends do). The peace must be amazing.

But when you live in NYC, you hear buses, vehicles, people, right outside your door.

AND YOU HEAR ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING THROUGH WALLS, AND CEILINGS.

It's just the way it is.

Kitty 06-19-2008 08:30 AM

I'd call a lawyer (or at least google it) and see exactly what my rights are. I found this site.....http://www.tba.org/LawBytes/T10_1904.html

She sounds like a piece of work (as my Dad would say).

Melody

I hate earplugs. I have a constant roaring and ringing in my ears and that makes it louder. I use my Air Conditioner and a little sound screen already. These two things TOGETHER mask just about EVERYTHING, EXCEPT her screams.

He KNOWS I am not moving. I already told him once I would PROBABLY Die here. I think he already knows that noisy people drive out other tenants.

Yes, she IS a Nutjob, that's for sure but I don't think she will be here very long anyway. She doesn't CARE how much she bothers people, it's All About HER and no one else.

I know what my rights are, I have been down this road many times before. SHE is wrong, this building isn't here JUST for her. Many people LIKE her have this attitude. They think the world revolves around them and no one else matters so she can't understand WHY people complain and she gets angry at everyone around her. This is Very Immature behaviour with a Bad Attitude.

KathyM 06-19-2008 09:39 AM

Wiix

For your sake, and hers, I hope this woman's screams are not due to physical/emotional pain. :( I would suggest headphones for when you want to sleep. You can find some comfortable ones you won't have to stick into your ears. :o

Would you be comfortable in showing her your thread here? Maybe she can explain to US why she keeps screaming.

Wiix 06-19-2008 09:47 AM

Well, with the theft of my painting and the fact that everything I LOAN her I can't seem to get back, I REALLY don't want her IN my apartment.

She doesn't HAVE a phone or a computer, I think she may be a bit illiterate. The less contact I have with her is best. These kinds of people MAKE trouble where there is none. Plus the fact she'd probably be into my desk drawers if I turned my back and I have a lot of valuables in my desk.

Some people you CAN'T be nice to, they take advantage and you ALWAYS lose. She is probably one of these people from what I've seen.

SandyC 06-19-2008 09:56 AM

Wow, this is bizarre. The worst part is if she ever screams for a "real" reason like someone is really hurting her no one will believe it. That is sad. It's like the boy who cried wolf.

Wiix 06-19-2008 10:05 AM

Yep. And the thing IS that I usually mind my OWN business no matter WHAT is going on around me. I only BOTHER people when THEY Bother me FIRST. I don't like confrontations and avoid them at all cost but sometimes you just have no choice.

IF she has a problem with Screaming, like Tourettes, well, you know what? We ALL have problems. None of us or should I say myself right now, have the resourses to HELP this girl. Most of the time I need help myself and don't get any. She is probably 1/3 my age and does have family that visits and Social Workers and "Friends" which I use that word loosely. If she doesn't have someone Advising her to get a phone so if she does need help, well, that isn't MY problem now is it?? I don't have the resourses to help every new neighbor that comes along with a "Problem".

mrsD 06-19-2008 10:08 AM

Actually, this is relatively Normal. My whole life is Bizarre. I have put up with a lot and maybe I am mellowing with age. :o I used to get Very Aggitated when things like this came up, now I am getting much better at Saying WTF. Sorry for the bad language but that's how you get sometimes when there is Nothing you can do about something. :o I feel PAST Fed Up with people.

I dont seem to recall anyone suggesting it was your responsibility to *help* your neighbor Wiix, only to try to *first enquire* if she *may* have an illness or disorder that causes the screaming before calling cops or 911 etc

no-one suggested you just have to accept this "disturbance" to your living environment, but rather to try to become informed of what may be causing it, so that you could proceed with whatever action you feel is right from a point of knowledge of what you were complaining about.
If you are already at the stage of neighborly relationship where you are loaning her things, surely simply asking outright *if* she has a medical condition that causes the screaming would be acceptable.

as you seem to be so very aware of who comes and goes to her apartment, perhaps ask the one of the family or social workers when next you observe them there.

Wiix 06-19-2008 11:11 AM

I think just minding my own business with her people is best. Once you open the door trouble soon follows. I am better off just talking with the owner, he and I are on relatively good terms.

Yes, if it is a medical problem, I really have no reason to get involved. she HAS a social Worker and is in and out of hospital for her Sickle Cell incidents. she has plenty of people in her life, I am just an innocent bystander.

As far as her borrowing things. She just bangs on my door whenever she needs something. She has asked me for a lot of things so far, sometimes I say No, I can't help you, sorry, then she goes away. Once you start giving her things everytime there is no end to it. She has asked me for food, cooking utensils, soap, broom, MONEY, a PILLOW, a BED, cat food, help when her power went out. I mean she has only been here a couple months and this could become a problem. I did loan her a broom and dustpan which I have asked her for BACK 4 times already and she isn't giving them back. Food for her and Cat food I have just Given her. Some people look at a kind hearted generous neighbor as a SUCKER. PLUS THE FACT I BABYSAT HER CAT FOR A WEEK, SHE NEVER EVEN SAID THANK YOU. She is just an Opportunist.

IF she were yelling HELP!! I would TRY to see what was wrong but as far as her intermittant Screams, well, I am sure others in the building aren't happy about it either. All her windows open onto the back atrium where ALL the bedrooms are. I just don't see WHY if she can't help it, she can't put her own hand over her mouth. Is that so difficult??

MelodyL 06-19-2008 11:15 AM

How do you know she doesn't have a phone. You've been in her house?? Even if she doesn't have a landline, she might have a prepaid phone (that's what I have).

She sounds like A LOT OF WORK!!! jeez.

Wiix 06-19-2008 11:54 AM

Yes, she does.

I KNOW she doesn't have a phone BECAUSE, a few days ago she was with my downstairs neighbor in the hall talking, Very LOUD, the other neighbor was TELLING her, "You have to GET a phone, Girl" as she was coming up the stairs almost right in front of my door. She just said, "Yea, I should." Plus I never hear anything ringing over there. I can hear phones all around me, in abbutting apts I mean. Under me and beside me on 3 sides.

MelodyL 06-19-2008 07:53 PM

You must be absolutely going out of your mind with what you are hearing.

Honestly, she really does sound mentally ill. I don't know that you can DO ANYTHING.

You do have my best wishes that she stops screaming!!! AND SOON!!

Melody

Wiix 06-20-2008 03:03 AM

She knocked on my door tonight and asked me to open the door, she had something to show me. It SEEMS the word "Thief" I wrote on the wall where MY painting used to be is now covered with something else. I think her concience MUST be bothering her. I won't EVEN describe what she put up there. :o

MelodyL 06-20-2008 06:44 AM

Did she put back the painting??

Melody

Wiix 06-20-2008 10:49 AM

I used the word "Something" Because, well, not exactly My taste. Mine was a Nature Painting, this one, well, hmmm, I don't know WHAT it is. If I go snap a Pic and show you BUT the flash will bounce off the glass and you won't be able to SEE what it is. I will TRY to do that but at an Angle. I'll be back. ;)

SandyC 06-20-2008 10:50 AM

She actually tried to give you something? Wow, maybe this is your chance to get something out of her regarding the screaming?

Wiix 06-20-2008 10:53 AM

No, she just wanted ME to SEE what she put up there to COVER the word "Thief". IF she was the one who stole it, THAT would bother the Hell out of her seeing that word everytime she came up the stairs. She just wanted to cover it up. I really DO think she took it to begin with.

AfterMyNap 06-20-2008 10:58 AM

Hey, Wiix, have you googled her full name? She might be well-known out there!

Keep your door locked....etc.

I think this woman has an agenda.

Wiix 06-20-2008 11:09 AM

And here it is. I titled it The 3 Tenors. http://www.spearboard.com/rofl.gif

She also put a handwritten note on top of it telling people Not to steal this picture, it's against the law.

I think her conscience is REALLY bothering her now.

Wiix 06-20-2008 11:11 AM

I Really feel like Screwing with her. I have a whole closet full of art prints I really don't want. I should hang them ALL up in the hall and see how many go missing. http://www.spearboard.com/rofl.gif

Wiix 06-20-2008 11:13 AM

This reminds me of something I heard someone do once during the City Workers Strike in New York City a few years back. They Gift Wrapped their garbage and left it sitting on the seat in their car with the window down. It was GONE in a matter of minutes. http://www.spearboard.com/rofl.gif
