Kicker

We can teach CT (Critical Thinking) just as we teach mathematics or any other subject. CT is not about what to think but is about how to think.

CT teaches us the art and science of good judgment, the better the judgment of our citizens the better our democracy.

I think that one writes fiction for a different reason than one writes non fiction. Fiction is primarily for entertainment whereas non fiction is primarily for learning. I think that it is imperative that adults become self-actualizing self-learners when their school daze are over. Schools and colleges teach us to get and hold a job but there is more to life than working.

I would say that any normal person can learn math up to the level of differential equations. CT is easier than this level of math.

I agree with this: that people are taught WHAT to think, and not how.

As a fledgling writer, I disagree that nonfiction is written for only educational purposes and fiction merely entertainment. I am first and foremost a creative writer, whether the piece is fiction or nonfiction and whether my reader learns anything is up to him/her.
