Default My poor 2 yr old nephew...

He fell out of a 2nd story window yesterday and rushed to the trauma hospital. My sister was so distraught, I could hardly get any thing out of her. I live in NC and my whole family lives in WV. It was so hard not being there to console her or my nephew. But fortunately I have 2 other sisters and a brother plus mom and dad to be there for her.

She said it happened when he saw the cat in the window and he went to get it but pushed it out of the screen. He looked over to see if he could see the cat and fell out himself. Oh dear it just hurts thinking about it.

Fortunately no brain injuries, no concussion only a broken tibia in his right leg. It was broken in two places, so they did surgery and put him in a cast up to his hip. He is not liking that right now b/c he can't get up and walk around and play. You know how active two year olds can be...

Thanks for listening. W/O having my family (other than my husband and son) around, it just makes it hard sometimes.

Missy

Oh my, the poor thing.

He's in our prayers believe me.

And when they get him home, please talk to them about putting window guards on those windows.

It's the law in my state.

Take care,

Melody

Holy cow! Thank goodness it was just a broken leg! Man!

Hopefully, he'll poop right out and get some good sleep, poor little dude. Looks like Auntie's gonna have to come to the rescue with a boatload of sit-still activities. I sure hope his leg heals well.

I'm so glad that he's OK - or will be. I'm sure he's pretty sore right now. Bless his heart......I remember when my boys were that young. Into everything and endless energy. I will keep him in my prayers. And you, too, as I'm sure this has been hard on you not being able to be there.

Missy

It is very frustrating to be so far away from family when there is an emergency. I can imagine your sister was frantic. I'm glad he'll be okay. From now on when you see him you can say "Is it a bird, is it a plane? No, it's SuperNephew!"

When my son was around that age, just learning to walk, I considered myself an excellent mom. I was out on my 3rd floor balcony cleaning off a chair, and I had him right beside me. As I was scrubbing, I noticed the tone of his voice changed to a "look at me" sound. I look behind me and he had wriggled between the bars and was standing on the air conditioning unit of the apartment below me. We were on a hill, so it was a BIG drop to the bottom.

I was afraid if I gasped or made a sound it would startle him, and he could fall. I casually turned around, picked him up, and brought him inside. Then I shook out all the willies I had inside me knowing what could have happened.
