Vonn - I'm right here! lol PM me.

Barb - The 1st week of school is now 1/2 over with. How are you doing?

Weave - Keeping my fingers crossed that this new dr will work out for you all.:hug:

Sandy - Sorry to hear Jim is not doing well. Saying prayers for him.:hug:

Renee - That kind of sounds like my day. Only I didn't get that 2nd nap. I had to go out and get some printer ink.

Hi everyone else I missed (and I know I missed many of you). I hope you are all having a good evening.

~~~
Got my car done. Came in to make a list of the errands I needed to run and took a nap. DD now 17, came home from school and was knocking LOUDLY on the door. She didn't have her key with her. It woke me up. Then she explained how she had to have the car this afternoon/evening for a fundraiser they are doing at school so that she could help get everything there. In my sleepiness, I told her sure.:eek::Doh: I needed the car! DD18 got off of work at 3 and came home and we ran the errands together.
Making note to self, remind DDs not to ask those questions when I am not all the way awake. lol
Sandy sorry to hear about Jim's troubles.... I hope things improve soon!
Today I have a big presentation at school - last class for the mod. :D It will be easy though. I am part of a group of 3 and we designed a campground business. "Moose Madness Campground" :D this is our mascot....
isn't he cute?? We have really had a good time putting it together. I was so lucky and got 2 great team members - that helps right there. I could of not been so lucky and really got a couple of duds.
My b / f sister just text me and she is at the hospital with contractions having her baby boy. I so wish I had the money to head to UT to be with her. She has no family close.... we are very close even though she is so far away. So hopefully soon I can come on and say we have a new baby in the family!! :D
Have a good day every one!
Good Morning! It's quit raining here...finally. I'm beginning to get concerned about this new hurricane threat to Louisiana. They've had enough.
Matt made it back home from Jekyll Island yesterday. He said the weather there was beautiful.
My only activity today is going grocery shopping for a few items. I need to go get a printer cartridge but hate spending the $30 for it!! Seems like it doesn't last long at all before I need a new one.
Tricia - I'm so impressed that you work on your own car! I wish I knew how to do that stuff. Until my right hand is no longer numb I guess I'd better forgo things like that.
Sandy - I hope Jim is feeling better. He sure has had a rough time with the UTI's.
Char - good luck with the school presentation today. Congratulations on the new baby in the family!! You'll have to let us know what it is once it arrives!
Weave - glad to hear DH is doing so well off the meds. I believe that sometimes some of our biggest problems come from the meds we take.
Vonn - I wish I had your talent for crafts. I have to buy all my cards - the ones I make look like a kindergartener made them!
Barb - hope school is going well. Hang in there - the first week is bound to be difficult.
Renee - check that caller ID before you answer your phone, girl!! :D I hope you're feeling better. I agree with the others that you'll do better once you're on your own. The environment you're in now doesn't seem conducive to a supportive situation. You're in my prayers. :hug:
Frank & Deb - I hope ya'll are feeling better. Too bad Sonic doesn't deliver!!
Kay - how are the prego goats? Still waddling around? I know you'll post pics once the babies are here....I'm excited!!
Anyone I left out...it was unintentional. I'm thinking of everyone and hoping ya'll have a great day!! :grouphug:
alas, Kelly, I am unable to take pix... the humid climate caused my Nikon digital to croak.
and hubby's Pentax died last year...
:(:confused::(
the goats are fine, both still pregnant, and I'm watching closely for "signs" of impending kidding...
kinda nervous about it, but as ready as we can be.
Good morning, everyone!! It just began raining here in Chicago area, which we need...haven't had much in a couple of weeks.
Sandy, I hope that Jim can get these UTIs under control. Bactrum doesn't affect the good bacteria in the intestines, does it? If so, have him eat yogurt...restores the good bugs in the gut.
I wonder if all of you who list everyone in your posts writes these things down...otherwise, how in heaven's name do you remember what everyone posted??? I can't even remember the post immediately before mine...you all either have photographic memories, or you cheat and write down stuff...:rolleyes:
I have a dentist appointment today...:Bawling: hate it, but it needs to be done, right?
My DD, who is beginning her career as a teacher, called yesterday in tears. She's overwhelmed by all the new-teacher instructions and changes in schedules that go on right before school starts...she sees the students beginning next week. Say a prayer that she gets through the first few weeks, please. She always reacts to new situations this way. What's so crazy is that she graduated with a 3.99, was goalkeeper on the soccer team, a leader in the school's religious group, performed community service, coached goalies in her free time, and worked a few hours a week besides. No confidence...she is her mother's daughter:rolleyes:
Well, I hope everyone has a good day...take care not to overdo...and enjoy these last weeks of summer!
I just had to post real quick about a success last night. It started out badly when 11 year old DS didn't do his math homework until 9PM, but it wasn't really assigned homework, just a refresher kind of thing that I really thought he should do. So, I made him do it.
He started out saying he was no good at math and not trying to do it. I got up and went over to the table and gave him some quick pointers and he responded really well and did it. I had to refocus him and encourage him a couple of times, but he didn't freak out. I am so proud of him because he really does understand it and does well at math, but gets so overwhelmed with these multi-step problems.
Last year, this would have caused a yelling, screaming melt down of frustration because ADHD kids don't deal well with writing out long problems and keeping it neat enough to get through all the steps without mistakes. It is overwhelming to his brain. Getting started is really hard for him.
This is something I actually understand now that my brain doesn't work right. Maybe I needed to have cognitive problems to actually understand how to get through to him!
FinLady 08-28-2008 10:25 AM
Holly, Glad you were able to help him out. It's neat to see he's gotten better about it.
DebbieD, LOL. I admit I have to cheat to answer some posts. That whole cog fog thing I get. There's a small list of prior posts under the reply box. There are still somedays where it doesn't register even with the help. :D
Sandy, Sorry to hear Jim's still not feeling well. Hope the change up in the meds helps him. :hug:
Yeahbut, I love the moose. He is cute.
Vonn, Hoping the finals go well. Glad to hear you're keeping busy.
Sorry if I missed anyone. :grouphug:
Sitting here trying to figure out what small stuff I can do today. Want to go for a walk, but the maintanence crew is out there cutting grass right now. To avoid a sinus migraine, gonna have to wait until later. :(
Do have to redo photo shots of my paintings here soon. Our state's art council has an online gallery, so I'm thinking of submitting to them for now to get my name out there. But not sure if I want to do that today or not, LOL.
I guess when it's cloudy out, I just want to curl up with a good book and be a slug, LOL :D
Hope everyone has a good day. :grouphug:
Hey all, it's raining here and I am mad I didn't mow the grass yesterday. My oldest called me this morning saying someone slashed his tire. They also slashed his roommates tire so it's probably some punk kids.
I plan to do a little cleaning today. Jim's hanging in there with the bactrim.
Oh, I spoke with the spinal cord doctor about Jim getting an Ibot and he again so no, the VA wont get it. I told him that's not true because some veterans have already got one and if they can, why not Jim? He was surprised to hear that and promised to get back with me about it. I will hound them until they say yes to at least a trial run of the Ibot. lol
Have a good day, stay safe, cool and healthy everyone!
Thanks for the well wishes concerning DH's new doc. DH and I both think his meds are messing him up more than they are helping. I am cautiously optomistic that the new doc will get the med problem fixed and soon. Something good has to happen to him/us and fast. My fingers are slipping off the knot I've got tied to the end of this rope. Life's storms just have to ease up a bit here. Forget asking politely, I'm begging! <not pretty but...> Actually a wonderful answer to a different prayer came this morning. Rejoice, rejoice, rejoice!!! Still begging for other help though.
Okay some insight... Housework (yuk!) and (yawn) homeschool supervising. Next week I'll have DD get into school work full force. I'm letting her kinda ease into things this week. Housework awaits. ugh.
I am amazed by anyone who can homeschool. Just getting through the homework is taxing enough to my patience. You have my admiration.
