Politics Oprah "thinks" she is pulling a fast one

Seems Oprah is denying that she is playing political favorites.
Viewers are clammoring that they want S. Palin on the show and she is refusing to put her on. According to her website, she didn't refuse. She simply doesn't want to put her on "now." Says that perhaps after the election she will do this.

However, didn't she have Obama on twice? Oh yes...that might have been either before the election or very early on. However, didn't she either imply or come right out and say that this person (BO) would make a very good president and if he ran she would support him? Didn't she GUSH all over him? Impartial journalist? Hardly. I think something STINKS HERE.

And, didn't she have Bill Clinton on relatively recently? Oh yes, Bill wasn't running for office. How clever. And Bill is very popular...yep...that's it.

Also...yep, it IS her show. But isn't she allegedly a journalist? Wouldn't ANY journalist in their right MIND KILL to have this popular political candidate on their show? Especially if Oprah thought about the fact that almost all her viewers are women and many might/probably like Palin. Ya know...Palin IS interesting. Palin is a woman. BO was on the show. Clinton was on the show. Women are her audience. Her audience wants her on the show. Duh? Oprah, are you mentally handicapped or are you biased as "all get out?" Please...you pick, 'cause it's one or the other.

Perhaps these women didn't make her rich enough? Perhaps she doesn't care? Do the words ungrateful, unprofessional, uncaring and entitled come to your mind?

I dunno. Let's think about this...
Could it be that Oprah does her shows to promote Oprah? Yes, it's nice that folks get a benefit to her topics. HOWEVER, if OPRAH HERSELF doesn't personally benefit...WELL, YOU AIN'T GONNA HEAR ABOUT IT, NOW ARE YA?

Gee...I WONDER WHY WE GET TO HEAR SO MUCH ABOUT WEIGHT CONTROL? Hmmmm...I wonder?????

I say...how about boycotting this woman's show???? Oprah seems to be more and more self serving.

How much money is she putting back into the welfare of the poor in this country? She seems to donate a lot to those less fortunate in other countries. That is a good thing...don['t get me wrong. But, what about those less fortunate here? She has mentioned contributing to US animal shelters. Are US poor families out of the question? Or is she afraid some of that money might go to families that she doesnt' want that money to go to?

Could Oprah be biased, prejudiced...maybe even racist?

Have we been sold a bill of goods? Has she been educating herself, promoting her own self interests (Think Dr. Oz, etc.) and her political candidate all at OUR EXPENSE?

Think about boycotting her show. Think about boycotting her sponsors.

In the words of Rev. Wright..."Target...no no no."

I'm TIVOing it and looking now and again to see who her advertisers are. Might send out a few letters. They wont be nice ones either.

Put down the Kool Aid Ladies...it's got way too many calories.

Former Oprah Fan who has seen the light. Amen.

Red face I won't watch her anymore.

I've given up. I also don't like her handling of the political arena.

I occasionally catch a few minutes of her when I switch stations for the 5pm news. That is enough for me!

She has a show...with guests....she can really ask who she wants on it..without being criticized...yes she may be picking to favor someone...

if someone that has a show wants to also pick who they want on a show...so be it...whichever side....just my thoughts...

she isnt a reporter...she has a talk show...and she has a lot of pull so yes, she is playing games to support her favored party....but who am I to criticize......sarah

by the way, she does support many charities in the U.S. from what I have read over the years....I do agree she seems to enjoy shows she can relate to....weight issues etc....oh well again her show...

i do believe their is a either unspoken law or an actual FCC one, if so and so gets x amount of time on this show so does their opponent, just during the campign part of things, at least that was my concept of things a few years ago and things may of changed, so I could be wrong Sarah

I forgot. Oprah is not a journalist.
However, I'm fairly sure this was her major in college.
She is a talk show host.

She is a talk show host who:
1) Doesn't care what her viewers want to see.
2) Doesn't book popular people on her show unless they agree with her political points of view.
3) Doesn't book anyone on her show unless they appease/grease her in some sort of way.
4) Either thinks the American people are stupid because they can't see what she is all about or thinks she is so "special" that it doesn't matter.

I've been a fan for MANY many MANY years and I have defended her for the last year from criticism from my spouse and a few friends.
I am steeming mad that over the last year or so, I have seen more and more evidence of her selfishness and feel duped. This is NOT a political statement in the least. I think she has the right to endorse a candidate. But then she shouldn't have them on the show, without having other people on the show from the opposing party. She is playing games and it shows. She is transparent.

I do think she implies on her show that she is someone who cares deeply about women's issues, respect toward people, about fairness, about equality, about kindness towards others and using our intuition.

I don't think she is being fair, kind, showing respect toward women, etc.
My intuition tells me I/we have been duped and duped in a major way. This woman is out of touch and is using her show and her viewers not even in a healthy way (create high ratings to get more advertisers, etc.) but in an unhealthy one (see what you guys can do for me personally while at the same time allowing me to amass a fortune).

This is a social chat. I am fine with folks who disagree with me. However, I do think folks might want to see that there is a possibility that this talk show host has a hidden or not so hidden agenda that is dishonest.

I walked away from the "church of Oprah" a long time ago. SHe is self serving, self centered and her ego is way too big.

Don't drink the kool aid---that was funny ...Sue
