Hi everyone. I have Multiple Sclerosis and free from an attack right now thank goodness. I have a few other diseases also. I am off of all ms treatments right now, since I can't face another Copaxone shot! And life mandates that I take care of so much and place myself last on the list. Anyhooo...does anyone know how to financially make it with ms and denial from social security due to being short work credits? My bodily movements are not easy most days as I have lots of involuntary bodily jerking, spasming and difficulty walking after about 5 minutes. But, I will lose it all if I don't find a job or two jobs. Any advice???? Any at all ????? Vocational Rehab is a joke here. They said for me to return every 6 months to see if my ms goes away lol. MS unfortunately is here to stay and time is not on my side to pay the bills, keep the house and pay for the kids medical issues (not to mention my dogs and other pets). The online jobs fizzled weren't for me. Thanks for any advice .

"And life mandates that I take care of so much and place myself last on the list."
This sentence speaks VOLUMES. Why do you have to put yourself last? I'm not kidding. Do you qualify for any kind of aid? You have kids, right? So if you are not working, perhaps if you applied, you might get food stamps, etc.. Just a suggestion!! And putting yourself last. That doesn't help anybody. You have to take care of YOURSELF, before you can take care of kids, dogs, pets, house, WHATEVER. Because when YOU go, who is left? Think about it. Only when I put MYSELF first, took care of ME, did I heal myself. And if I didn't take are of ME, who would take care of my husband? I grow some of my own food (to make ends meet). It surely does help with the food bills. Perhaps the pharmaceutical companies can help you with you meds? I've done that in the past (with my husband's meds). You'd be surprised at what they can do for you. I do hope some of my suggestions don't come across as intrusive. We are here to help each other. Take care, Melody

Hi Hola, have you tried applying for SSI? This is totaly different from Social Secruity. You never have to work to get SSI...at least in my state..you just have to be unable to work. If I am right, you also get a medical card. Before I took disability retirement, I checked into SSI and was told that with MS, I did qualify, but I decided against drawing it because I got more money from my disability retirement. My brother was in the same boat as you....didn't have enough "quarters" (work credits) paid in, but he does get SSI..good luck to you..God Bless

hi Hola,
SSI might be the way to go although you might run into bumps at first. I had to help my father apply for it and it took a long time but he did get it(a month after he'd passed away....) however, don't let that discourage you. Get all your reports from your doctors, all of them. Fill out every single line (I believe you can print the form on line these days) I also believe you can set up home interviews instead of going in. And I think you can apply for other assistance as well...not sure how it works these days for I am sure the rules and regulations have changed since... not sure what all your resources are as far as jobs go. What are your qualifications, are you able to modify them? Or maybe take a few on line courses to keep you up to date and then maybe get an online job? Good luck
