Hi Curious, I just wanted to share with you that it seemed that everywhere I went today I saw a curious george picture. I thought of you everytime I saw one Then I am at home watching the Dog Whisperer and one of the clients had on a curious george sweatshirt so you were all over today. I look forward to your posts as they almost always give me a smile.
As far as the spouse not understanding, I had that problem for 2 years until he saw me after spinal surgery. He was there when I was throwing up everywhere from the anesthesia to them getting me out of bed the first time. It wasn't until that moment that I think he finally got it. He rarely would go to doc visits with me and now if I ask he will go willingly. I tell him my memory is shot so I need an extra set of ears. He went through the phase of trying to fix me but he finally got it that I am never going to be like I was before. It was a hard long battle filled with many tears but we knew that we had plans to grow old together--I think I am beating him even though he is 7 years older--and once we realized how easy it is to lose someone you love we have clung to each other like never before. We both lost our moms in the last 3 years while I was going through all the medical stuff and as they say good things can come out of tragedy that is what happened to us. My hope for all of us in this same boat is to realize just how valuable it is to have a safe place to fall when life gets you down. Just my rambling thoughts and I hope they help...Sue |

Hey...sometimes all your car needs is a little mac-n-cheese in the gas tank to fix it right up! (Disclaimer: Should any moron be brainless enough to actually put macaroni in their gastank, I hereby forego any responsibility for mentioning it, and you get what you deserve! )
Speaking of cars, did I tell you that my wife bought a new one last week? Boy, talk about being surprised! She told me she was going into town to buy her a new pair of shoes for work, and she came back with a brand-new Exterra SUV. Of course I over-reacted by showing my displeasure. I am just so selfish and insensitive sometimes!) Oh, well. Live and learn, I always say. It sure beats the alternative, don't it... Hi there, Snoozie! Don't think I've had the pleasure. Thanks for dropping in to the Night-Owls thread for a visit. If this thing gets much longer, John will have to give us our own forum by default, won't he? |

No sleep for the sleepless. Can't seem to find a way to get me any shut-eye this evening. It's almost not worth trying by now, since I gotta be up at five in the morning anyway. I have to be at the hospital at a quarter after seven.
Yeah, my wifie is gonna be there, at least for a while. I don't think she's really looking forward to it, though. But hey, neither am I! It's gonna mean a lot to me knowing that you're thinking of me, dear. You and my long-time best friend are the only ones who I truly believe really are. He says he's gonna come over and baby-sit me after I get home tomorrow, and might even take off from work thursday to spend the day with me. What a pal! We've been best friends for about twenty years now, so I guess you could say we're pretty close. Well, no matter how much I tried to pretend that this surgery wasn't gonna bother me, it seems I mighta been a little wrong about that. I ain't scared of it or anything, but I do feel a little trepidation inside. Oh well, by this time tomorrow it will all be over and done with, right? I'm sorry I missed you earlier here on the forums, but to tell the truth I was hiding out from the world this afternoon. I feel a lot better now, except for the fact that I'm so darned tired. If I'm up to it, I will definitely sign in and let you know how things went, and if I found out anything or not, okay? As for the gas masks, I figure the family will get along survivably without them. Might even get 'em out of the house for a change, outside where they can enjoy some healthy fresh air. Maybe I'M the one who;s gonna need some assistance with breathing... 'Course, I know from experience that the gas masks don't work for that. Once when I was in the military there was a sargeant who was notorious for his lethal rear-end rumbles. One time he cut-loose in the front of a truck I was driving along with the chief, and it was deadly, I can tell you. We both donned our military style gas-masks, but unfortunately they did absolutely nothing to protect us from the smell. Maybe somebody oughtta patent that as a lethal weapon! You know, you've turned out to be a very good friend to me, girl. I hope you know how much I appreciate that! You take care of yourself, and I'll talk to you again at the soonest... |

Hi Idealist, another nightowl here.
Maybe spend the next short while until you have to go to surgery doing deep breathing, or quiet things, to try to settle your nerves? They say nerves are perfectly normal before surgery, but they're still not fun to deal with. I do that too, think that "this time tomorrow it will be all over with". I thought I was the only person who did that. But I see you do it too. Sounds like you've got a good pal there to take care of you afterwards. Best of luck for your surgery and I will be hoping and wishing that it goes very well for you. Check in when you can... I want to know what you were dreaming about during surgery. Hannah |
