According to the SSA website (http://www.ssa.gov/dibplan/dqualify5.htm)

Quote:
To decide whether you are disabled, we use a step-by-step process involving five questions. They are:

1.

Are you working?

If you are working in 2010 and your earnings average more than $1,000 a month, you generally cannot be considered disabled.

If you are not working, we go to Step 2.
So it sounds like you will only qualify for SSDI if you are making less than $1000 a month. I am not sure how much you make a month... are you working full time or part time? I'd suggest going to the website I listed up at the top and working through the steps. If you make more than $1000/month, then you wouldn't qualify, unless there is a special circumstance such as using the work incentives, which can be found here: http://www.ssa.gov/pubs/10095.html

My name is Sarah and I am 25 years old. I have a lot of chronic health problems. Peripheral neuropathy and POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) keep me bedridden the majority of the time. I also struggle with degenerative disc disease, disc desiccation, spondylolisthesis, arthritis, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) with insulin resistance, allergies, sound sensitivities, and other health problems.

SSA usually only requires their medical exam if your medical records are insufficient. If your medical records are detailed enough and indicate total disability, SSA should find you to be disabled.

One of your other posts mentioned working ......Are you still working ? Total disability would preclude even working from home if you are able to make over X amount a month (used to be $900, but someone above mentioned it's up to $1000). Although in theory you could make less than that and be eligible, I don't know of anyone who was approved while they were still working even in a limited way.

I am still working, though having troubles, not to a point where I have to stop yet (though at work all I have done is scan the internet to pass the day away). I am making over 1000$ a month. I guess SSI is based on employability.

SSI would be if you are totally disabled and low income.

SSDI would be if you are totally disabled and worked enough quarters.

The VA pays disability based on levels of partial to total disability. SSDI only pays for total disability. If you are still able to work, you are not totally disabled.
