Hi everyone,
I am new to the forums, though I've been reading quite a few threads prior to registering. Before I ask my question, I'd like to thank you folks who take the time to help so many others out! For the past three or so years, I have been fighting for SSI due to a disabling chronic pain condition. It has been a tough battle due in no small part to my age (I'm only 25 now, and was younger when this started). My application and appeal were both denied. Fortunately, by the time I ended up before the ALJ, I had my doctor's support and an abundance of medical records to support me. Today, I received a letter from SSI concerning my case. I think it is telling me I was approved, but here's the part that concerns me ... Quote:
My impression is that I was approved, and they're now figuring out how much money to give me, but ... After all this time, I'm almost afraid to believe that I won. |

Find a local Senetor and take all your papers into them. My husband had an attorney we were going a year and half of 4 turn downs. We took our papers to a senetor in our town and the 3 months later got our approval and back pay. It's way worth it do it. Good luck.

Hi,
I think my question may have been misinterpreted. With the above excerpt, I was just looking for a second opinion on whether that's saying I am approved for benefits. If it is, great! Just don't want to get happy and then find myself sorely disappointed over a mistake. Like I said, I guess it's partly a reluctance to easily accept victory after a lot of struggle. |

It sounds as though you've been approved. It could be they need to know some details first perhaps, maybe they need an address, bank info for direct deposit etc. Or perhaps the amount of your current resources. It certainly is not a rejection. It seems to state it here:
"We were recently notified by the administrative law judge that your disability claim was medically approved" |

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to thank you for your replies. I received another letter yesterday, this time containing the judge's ruling, which was fully favorable. Now, I just have to wait for the phone call, probably to discuss all of the things menme mentioned above. Will let you know how it goes. |
