Recently I decided to fire my old pdoc after being his patient for over a decade and start fresh with a new pdoc. This new pdoc has only known me for less than three months and I am already getting the impression that he does not support me being on SSDI. I am afraid to come right out and ask him but I need to know that he will support my claim when it comes time for a CDR.
Should I start looking for another doctor? What would you do? |

What causes you to believe that he doesn't support your disability claim?

We somehow got on the subject of coping with stress and I told him that I cannot cope with the stress of holding down a job and he asked me why I cannot cope. I got the impression that he does not see why I am unable to work. Maybe I am just being paranoid, but than again I am paranoid most of the time and I don't want to waste my time with a doctor that is going to jump to conclusions about me.

how long have you been on SSDI? When is your next review? If your health/condition did not improve can they take one off SSDI?

I'm actually in the same position.. My current psychiatrist mentioned some ambivelance about my inability to work.. Just means that he won't be anywhere around me come my review date in 2015 (or even within a two year window of it, which the CDR asks for)

Just curious... what makes your doctors feel that way? Do you take medication for your condition and does your doctor feel that your condition is now "stable" enough for your to work? What if you go back to work and then find yourself back in the same state that caused you to file for SSDI? What do your doctors say about that?
I would hate to see benefits taken away from those who are still disabled. It takes a long time to finally get SSDI approval and for doctors to not take that into consideration just annoys me to no end. Praying that things work out for the both of you. But can ones primary doctor make the call once your on SSDI? If one is still being treated for the same condition as they got on SSDI for, how could a doctor say oh your being treated with these medications but your ok now?
I did start a different post on how reveiws work, can anyone else help us here? |

Isn't the point of treatment and medication is to help you function at your highest level? May or not mean you are OK though. Perhaps you should keep your own diary of good days and bad days and ok days so if you are ever asked, you have some data. |
