Ok, the good news is I have been approved for SSDI!!!!!! After the 5 month waiting period, I will begin to receive benefits in September 2011. I know how much in getting and the day I will receive it.
The bad news is my SSI application is still pending. I have no income, and my resources are WELL under the limit of $2000. I know that info needs to be updated, but when I called today they told me that it could be up to 6 weeks before they made a decision on my SSI. I asked about expidited benefits and that could not occur until a decision was made. My app was approved in 6/1/11, and I know thats only 10 days ago but 10 days is a LONG time when you have no income, your mortgage is past due, you have disconnection notices for gas, electric and water and your checking account is overdrawn. Now I am EVER SO GRATEFUL for the approval, I really am, but my situation is critical. I have borrowed all that I could borrow and been creative with trying to keep my mortgage paid, lights, gas and water on. Im out of ideas. My gas is scheduled to be cut off on Monday if I dont pay today. |

Glad to hear that you have been approved but sorry to hear about your financial situation
![]() Are you a member of a Church? If so, you should be able to go to them for emergency financial assistance to keep your Gas from being shut off and maybe to pay a few other bills until you receive your SSDI benefits. You are in my thoughts and prayers. |

Thanks for your kind words Shari. I was a member of a church but I quit going when social anxiety took over my life. I used to be a "normal" person. Boy have times changed !!!! (just a joke-trying to cheer myself up)
![]() ![]() ![]() The unfortunate thing is I AM entitled to SSI but for some reason, the application was overlooked or something. I looked back at my paperwork I received and I have 2 applications- one for Soc Sec Disability Insurance and one for Supplemental Security Income and on this one it lists all of my resources which was not over $2000. The rep who took my app also gave me 2 booklets. one for SSDI and one for SSI. My SSDI app is finalized. The SSI app is MIA. Neither the National # or the Local Office can give me a straight answer. None of my resources have changed since the app and if they have, its LESS than what I listed initially. Thanks for listening. It really does help to be able to vent. Quote:

Update: Ok, I spent ALL DAY in the SSA office today. But I knew that I may have to do that (Thanks Janke)[so I took reading material. It was hard to be in there around all those people but I did it and had to keep telling myself that I HAD to do it.
I was able to get the interview right before closing time and I thanked the rep for squeezing me in. My local office said they dont do "emergency payments" but she said she could get me a check in 7-10 (or she may have said 5-10) days. Well, thats better than 6 weeks I guess. At least I know its on the way. Thanks to Janke and all that gave me advice! QUOTE=thechosenone;778607]Thanks Janke. Your posts are always so helpful and informative.
