Well, heaven forbid they should control the "wealth!" It's theirs isn't it? Income tax and "wealth" are two different things. They pay more than their fair share; unless of course, you would like to redistribute their wealth. As far as I know, the USA is not a communist country yet.

hedge fund managers who makes hundreds of millions to billions per year pay a lower tax rate than their 35,000 a year secretaries. Warren Buffet admitted as much. what i posted shows that they are paying a lower overall tax rate on the amount of income they receive as compared to people in the bottom 80% who are paying a much higher rate. there is more i would like to say to you but it seems im the only one here who isnt allowed to answer political attacks. by the way nice try to invalidate what i was saying with the communist bugaboo thing, but it fell short.

Excellent posts dollymom, concur 100%! We are 32%'ers ourselves. Anyway, someone asked about who would get paid first. Early this morning Fox News broke it down. I didn't write it down nor get the percentages. But SS and Medicare were included but were something like #3 on the list. They also mentioned who would not get paid. I will see if I can try to find it.

Dear Echoes,

I don't know why you are so upset. I am not referring to you when I use the word "you." I guess I should have used the words "a person, or an individual" in place of the word you. Anyway, don't take things so personally.

Regarding those billionaires, I'm sure they pay most of their money to the government in capital gains tax (at 15%), but their salary or wage is far less than the amount of wealth they have accumulated. I seriously doubt that even at that, they pay less than a $35,000/year secretary pays in income tax. Come on...be real...and remember 1% of billions is way more than 15% of $35,000.

Reality is reality and the rich pay their fair share and more, and no one has the "right" to someone else's wealth. I would venture to say we will never agree, but don't take it personally.

Exclamation

ok now this is my final warning...if members start posting negatively TO each other this thread will be locked.

Perhaps now you can all see why we request that you limit political posting and stick to issues

and yes, dollymom, you do need to choose your words more carefully so that others do not take your posts personally

i am biting my tongue so hard its bleeding believe me.

we are talking about percentage of someones income here not total dollars. no matter what the total dollars paid are, the secretaries are paying a higher percent of their income in taxes than hedge fund managers who are capped at 15% of income. The top 1% are far from paying their fair share. Reality is reality depending on which rose colored glasses you are looking through.

Its very kind of you though to be compassionate toward the fortunes of the overburdened rich people while politicians are getting set to carve up social security, medicare and medicaid which many people on ssdi depend on and to which those on ssi its a matter of survival.

One more thing, Echoes. I am really sorry if you thought I was attacking you. I was not. I guess I have been feeling a lot better and have been spending more time on the computer when I can. I haven't been on here much during the last year. I'm sure we both feel strongly about the current status of the government, especially with the threat of *The President* claiming we might not get paid. We both just have different beliefs. I believe in less taxes and less government, stricter enforcement of welfare programs, and less of those programs, *admin edit*
