Good luck to all of us!
I went out to breakfast this morning. Every morning we have been discussing this debt thing.

This morning I walk in and they were all saying 'it's done, it's done'

I said "no it's not, it still has to be passed by Congress"

Everybody looked at me and said "you are WRONG, it passed in the Senate"

I said 'yeah, I know but now it goes to Congress and they have to pass it"

Everybody jumped on me saying 'no no no , the deal is done"

I simply said (because you can't educate people who don't want to know". I just said 'oh, okay" and I changed the subject.

Just wait until the front page of my daily local newspaper has a headline that says:

CONGRESS PASSES THE BILL

I will make them EAT this newspaper.

lol

This will be like being awarded SSDI benefits all over again.
I don't understand why they are taking so long with this voting. They are gambling away the AAA credit rating.

Yes, & not all that long ago. In 2000, we posted a record budget surplus of $230 billion, the largest in our nation's history.

I listened to our president speak.

I anxiously sat there and waited for him to say the following:

"And I want to assure the seniors and the disabled that you need have no fear, you will be receiving your checks'.

HE DID NOT SAY THIS.

I know we are PROBABLY going to get our checks.

But it would have been nice to hear him say the words.

And the fact that he didn't think it was necessary , WELL, THAT IS WHAT BOTHERS ME ABOUT THE WHOLE THING.

We are not necessary??

Here you go Melody! I, for one, really never had a doubt. But again, it sure wasn't right to scare so many seniors and the disabled.

Someone at the post office would know if the checks are coming because they should be ready for delivery with tomorrow's mail.

I hear you Melody. I hope everyone can relax a bit now. I am planning on a trip to PA in the middle of the month (I just became a Grandma and can't wait to see the little one)! But I have 3 other people to help me drive since I cannot do this alone. Anyway, my point really was...that check is going to come in handy for this trip. God knows I haven't been anywhere since 1999! So, have fun with Alan and enjoy!

I've been following this thread but haven't posted anything yet. BUT . . . I checked my account this morning and my "check" was direct deposited. Phew! I hope it is the same for many and we can all breathe a sigh of relief, for now.

Melody, I agree. It would have been nice to hear *edit* And, an apology would have been nice too.

So glad the direct deposits and checks are reaching those that need and so depend on them

I'm going to lock this thread now as, although we understand feelings on all sides are a bit raw after all this, we just don't want to see the discussion turn to political argument.

thanks for everyone's participation.
