I am considering hiring a non-attorney representative for SSD. I have heard they can do a very good job as they would have experience working for SS in past.

Since you have access to the internet, strongly suggest that you read up on all you are interested in on their websites. You can also find them in your local Yellow Pages. Also, read the reviews about them.

Read the stickies at the top of this website. Allsup appears to be the top contender here.

When I was disabled, I was forced to file for SSD, based on my Disability insurance mandate. I filed, was turned down, appealed, and turned down again, and I was forced to appeal, when this occurred, I found an attorney, who was successful in getting my disability, which I was pretty sure I could have done myself, however, if and when SSD is granted, you pay nothing out of your own pocket, but is paid a set fee by Social Security Administration. I would make sure, that you have a doctor who supports your disability case. And find an experienced Social Security Attorney or an Advocate...as long as they understand your case, and can present it accurately.
