These might be helpful - I searched NT and didn't find any solid answer, but back pay time frame seems to vary anyway.

Just my opinion, but I think it will be fairly quick, a matter of weeks, maybe just two of them. You may get a phone call to verify some earnings from a prior year, but otherwise, they will just do the calculations and direct deposit to your account that you have on file with them.
Monthly payments are made according to your date of birth. If you birthdate falls between the first and 10th of a month, your check will be deposited on the 2nd Wednesday each month. If your birthdate falls between the 11th and 20th, it will be on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. And if it falls between the 21st and 31st, it will be the 4th Wednesday of each month. Now, don't take that as fact because I do not remember the EXACT dates and Wednesday's for direct deposit of SSDI payments but offer it as a guideline for providing a "QUICK" response to your post. The month and year of your birthdate do not matter, it is the middle number of the date of your birth...... What DAY of the month. While most matters regarding SSDI are very slow, payment is usually rather quick. Hang in there. I think you will be surprised how soon the money shows up. You may actually see it in your bank account before it shows up on your SSA account online. Wishing you the best and thanks for your service to the country. |

if you have dependent children under 18 who are also going to be receiving payments because of your having been approved for ssdi, you will all receive your payment on the 3rd of the month. its also important that they have your current bank information for electonic deposit.

Hello WW Oneil, I am new to this site. I to was a wounded warrior but am medically retired March at 100% P&T, 60% DOD. Just went to SSDI hearing 14 June 2016. I pray things went well for you after your postings in January. I am awaiting my decision from the ALJ hearing. It's been mentally challenging as well as financially stressful. The military takes care of its own while you are in but when you leave, you are on your own to figure out how to make ends meet. I never knew what Military members who retire by means of a medical Seperation or regular retire go through with receiving their final pay, first retirement check, first VA pay, VA back pay, Tricare issues, and waiting on final VA ratings until I am retired myself and facing this. All of these things puts such a physical stress on your body. You get to a point that you just don't know what to do but pick between letting the bills go along with your great credit score because you have to live day to day and don't have the money to make ends meet or buying food, or paying for medication co pays. I just do not remember other Military members I worked with, who got out on medical talk about this part of the suffering.
Don't know when my 1st SSDI letter will come. I just pray you and your family are doing good now. |
