Confused Perhaps you can help me? please??

Okay, I'm a little (a lot) confused regarding this whole SSI mess.

I applied for SSI, supplemental, in 2/08. In 11/08, I was approved. The lady who worked on my case was so kind and sympathetic. Her reason on why I was approved: I have significant cognitive effects from uncontrolled epilepsy, followed by surgery, traumatic brain injury, and recurrent major depression.

One day later, social security called and told me that I'd made too much money, and that I didn't qualify after all. Two of the months were mistakes - but the main reason was that since I'm now separated from my husband, and I don't pay rent to my parents, I can only make about $600/month. I averaged just below $800.

This whole time, I've been waiting to be approved, so I could get MA-EPD and then finally moved into my own apartment! Things look pretty darn depressing & confusing to me now. Is this unusual, or is it typical?? How do I get out of this mess?

Shez

p.s. Another strange thing I don't understand - people local county offices (emloyees) often look at me as though they don't understand me. Am I the only one?? It's like I'm speaking a foreign language

So sorry Shez.... sounds like an ugly tangle I also wish i had answers but I am not well versed in this area ...YET! Is there an advocate group you can contact for some basic help in understanding this scenario? (i.e. I have an advocate group thru my Long Term Disability insurance who are trying to get me SSDI.)
And keep on asking questions, its not a made up language- its just hard to speak. The county employees should apply some patience with those of us that are doing are best to speak S.S.!!
best of luck
