Default Please tell me you've been there!

I really do not understand. My case was initially approved by the doctor for SSI. Then, my local worker at SS office said that I'd made too much money at my job and wasn't paying rent, therefore, didn't qualify for it.

I've gone down in hours a bit, and have been struggling just to keep working anyway, since then. I re-applied. On phone interview, the SS worker mentioned having the doctor review my case. I asked, "Again?" He then put me on hold for a few minutes and comes back to tell me that this is my lucky day - they'd send me a check in a few weeks. No need to re-apply: I was approved. This happened a few weeks to a month ago.

Now, my social worker told me that I'd be receiving $1700 for back-pay in a couple of weeks. What?? I don't understand. My social worker wants me to just go with it, but I am totally confused here! While withdrawing money at the bank on Friday, I also got a print-out of my account. There shows that Social Security looked at my checking account. I thought that they'd deposited $250 into my account that day (but that was my balance when they peeked into it).

Is it always this confusing? I really do not understand, and that worries me. Please help if you can. Thank you very much!

Shez
